  1. Hi Guys, So its been ages since i made an update. The car is now finished and i have taken it to a few track days at Mallala. 3. Saw this yesterday on Brighton Rd, very nice looking car mate! :y:
  4. We had to cut down the crossmember brackets and lay them back, so that the engine would sit low enough. very happy with where it is sitting now though. The leaf springs aren't new, they are the original springs, with an added leaf and reset at a lower height. I got them made up at industrial springs on port rd, and they gave them a coat of paint. very happy with how they turned out
  5. yea inspiration is what got me going eventually! haha yea well my Dad use to be a mechanic so he has all of the tools and experience so i just use that as much as i can, haha also i am currently studing at university so i can find lots of spare time which helps. when i decided to start work again i just did heaps of research and just went crazy buying all of the parts that i needed. Most of the fabrication i try to do myself, but some stuff i have sourced elsewhere. i think the tip would be to plan ahead and choose the right time to start, Hope that helps :blinks:
  6. hahah yea last few months i have done heaps of work but before that progress was very slow! actually non existant hahah
  7. Just an update with the car. The engine is now running, since the last update i have completed the fuel system, intercooler pipes, most of the wiring. at the moment i am sorting out the diff and rear springs. i got the r31 diff shortened and new springs made up. the springs have an extra leaf, slightly lowered and also a extra strap on top of springs to reduce wheel tramp. Heres some photos on the progress of the car. intercooler pipe and pod filter new fuel pick up pajero brake master and ta22 clutch master hydraulic clutch set up pod filter corona brake and strut set up starting to get diff located and new leaf springs New leaf springs engine bay hopefully will have the car moving in a few weeks, still lots of little things to tidy up cheers
  8. hey guys Can somebody please tell me the original front track for a KE55? i have upgraded my front susprension set up and want to know how much i have changed it Cheers
  9. Hey guys so its been ages since I have been on here. I have finally started doing some work on the car over the last 4 weeks. I have been taking plently of photos to show you guys the progress. if you want to see more photos have a look here.. more photos v8 range rover engine mounts r31 diff with 3.89 ratio gearbox mount intercooler mounting intercooler and bumper fitted I am halfway though upgrading the front struts and brakes with corona parts, hopefully get it back together over the weekend. ;) Also thinking about plumbing up radiator and intercooler any ideas what will be the best way? I was thinking either get the parts from super cheap etc, or get some pipe bent at an exhaust place. Also does anyone know the best way to plumb in an oil catch can? I have done some research and have found about four different ways! haha
  10. I'm using a n13 nissan pulsar/ exa with twin thermo fans, fits nicely
  11. hey guys, I'm just starting my project car, which is a ca18det into a ke55 and i was just wondering if u guys have used any engineers that u would recommend? and also is there anyone in adelaide who has already put this engine into a corolla??? thanks
  12. an XX model???? whats that??? |blink| sorry, pretty new to corollas. and how would i find out?
  13. hey guys my name is Tristan i'm from SA, I have just picked myself up my first corolla, a clean ke55 sedan. Its nice tidy car bought from an old lady :jamie:. The paint work on the car is almost perfect and there is hardly any rust, the car has only done 130000kms. At the moment it is completely stock, but i have some very big plans for it. i have bought a ca18det engine and gearbox that i plan to put in over next few months. The engine also came with a t28 turbo. I'm planning on keeping the look of the car as basic as possible, and trying to get it as road legal as possible and getting an engineers certificate. Any help or tips would be much appreciated here's a few pics.
