SoulSearcher Posted August 31, 2007 Report Posted August 31, 2007 Hello!!! Since I had my car serviced last, I've noticed that my temp gauge is taking MUCH longer to get to normal running temp, it has been a bit cold weather wise, but it's really quite unusual...for instance, I let the car warm up (it used to be a couple of minutes) and by the time I got to the end of my road, about 300m it's fine, then onto the freeway, now, I run the engine for a couple of minutes and 12 - 15 klm's later it thinks about moving up, to normal operating temperature...whilst it's cold the heater doesn't blow warm air (which I thought rules out a faulty gauge) and it doesn't happen ALL the time, in the last 2 weeks (that I've noticed it) it's happened about 5 times. So I thought that maybe the thermostat isn't opening properly, therefore the warm coolant from the radiator isn't getting into the block, but then I'm not a mechanic (so have little idea).... Any ideas??? Lesley  *now with new mags* Quote
Medicine_Man Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 Did they change the thermostat during the last service? I noticed when I went from a shitty aftermarket one to a genuine one mine runs a bit warmer. I'd be calling them to find out.. Quote
old corolla bloke Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 I would say the thermostat is sticking open......time to replace as it will only get worse and do it all the time. cheers brian Quote
