i know a few people who have been playign with the k engines since they were new.. yes they are old!

 

and they all agre... when building a race motor, the 4k shits on the 5k every time.

the 5 uses hydrolic lifters, which are nto as good for outright performance, and the bore/stoke ratio is better on the 4k... i can't explain the ins and outs as to why that is, but these people (2 in particular) are very very switched on people, one buitl the 2jzgte levins and now does work fr paul morris motorsport... and the other has been racing cars since the 60s and wa sinvolved in the factory ke30 series rally cars.... so i beleive them!!

 

and wouldnt 1ggte pistons be too lower compression? even with shaved head?
