  1. The early Hyundi stuff was a variation of Mitsubishi gear. There may be a jap sigma 5 speed that would bolt to it. Cheers, Ian
  2. I would look at the 3t. If you were going to go much more than a stock 5k you would end up replacing the diff anyway, and I would upgrade brakes as a matter of course anyway. Then you have the option of playing with the 3t to get more later. Cheers, Ian
  3. The trouble with that is that a 4K wasn't available as an optional motor for those cars. So at best, a 3K with 1166cc is the base, and a 4K scrapes in. (1166 + 175 = 1340cc) Also, I beleive that the RTA goes down to the cc, not on the "thats near enough" principle. So that even if the engine is close to right, but still too big, it still won't pass. Cheers, Ian
  4. This is exactly right. If you ring up the RTA, they will tell you the listed weight for the model you are looking at. When I was looking at KE26's, the figure that I was told was less than any of the internet quotes people were saying, so the RTA would be the place to start. Cheers, Ian
  5. From what I understand, you need the axles and drums from a ke30 and you need to shorten the splines by about 5mm to get the length right. Cheers, Ian
  6. Google just told me that the main difference is in the power that it is rated at. 109CDI rated at 70kw, 115CDI is rated at 110kw. Cheers, Ian
  7. I thought some KE30 / KE55's had the proper setup in the heater box as you would expect from a factory fitment. I have seen this at Pick and Payless one of the times that I was there. It may be a bit more hunting, but it would look a lot more integrated. Cheers, Ian
  8. I think SA is the same as most places, in NSW anymay, you can put 2.5x weight in kg = cc for turbo/supercharged, or 3 x for NA. For a ke30 that is about 800kg, it means 2lt turbo or 2.4 NA. Also, have you thought about a ke55, basicaly the same car. The 30/55 ran from 1974 through to about 81. Cheers, Ian
  9. Ke20's run 4x110 not 4x100. Only the later FWD rollas ran 4x100. Cheers, Ian
  10. When I rang up, the RTA told me 720kg for a 2 door KE20 and 730kg for a 4 door, so 710 for a KE10 sounds about right. That works out to 2130cc NA, or 1775cc Turbo. I make the CA18DET to be 1809cc, so your car needs to be considered to weigh 723kg for it to be legal. Cheers, Ian
  11. I think you would be taking a risk,, that at the discretion of the insurance company that rather than not paying you for the wheels that you didn't tell them about, that if they worked out that it was over track and therefore not roadworthy that they would knock back the whole claim and not just $1000 worth of wheels. Cheers, Ian
  12. My ke20 had ke30 seats, and I know that SW20 seats fit into ke20's with minor modifications (slot front holes slightly, remove rear brackets and drill 2 holes) Cheers, Ian
  13. When it arrives, can you post some pics up? I would like to see what the genuine version of a xe2x hydrualic set up looks like. Cheers, Ian
  14. That would be close relative of the 4g93 wouldn't it? See that in one of the other engine conversion threads. Cheers, Ian
  15. Thats an awesome idea for a powerplant! I always wondered what box they used for the RWD conversions with these. Regarding the capacity thing, in NSW the rules change when you hit 1100kg to 4.82 x for NA and 4.0 x for turbo / supercharged. Just a quick question about the discs that you are going to run, what model Passat are they off? I can see that the DBA446 is the same OD, but a bit thinner, and the DBA800 is a bit closer on thickness. Cheers Ian
