Could be the idle control valve under the quads near the back of the head is clogged or a faulty coolant sensor. Try removing the idle control valve and cleaning it with carby clean first. See if that helps. You need a speed sensor to get the motor to rev out fully, changes the advance curve too, you can trick it with a 555 timer circuit or get a feed from your speedo under the dash, can't remember where I read the document how to do it, google should find it.
