  1. The only way to do up a shocky nut properly is with a rattle gun and heaps of small pulses of the trigger. It'll pull home. Sometimes with the weight on the car you can get them up tight with a breaker bar and some vice grips up high on the shock so not to damage the part of the shaft that runs through the shocky seal (not recommended - use a rattle gun).
  2. Self delusion is the most powerful tool the human race has! Say after me - "I am a pro spray painter", "I am a pro spray painter"! repeat 100 + times !! :lolcry:
  3. I swear I saw this on Yahoo JP many moons ago hey. Those wheels and that body really ring a bell. Great score though. Great to see such a rare car in good hands.
  4. Will you accept a barrel of olive oil for barter if you come for a visit and do the top coat on my rolla? :laff:
  5. Looks great! How's the 2T go? I think Black centers would do it more justice hey.
  6. A big enough grinder and hammer and welder and anything works! whether it'll get through the pits is another question!
  7. If you put commodore wagon rear shocks in cut rear springs will stay perfectly captive, technically it's illegal to cut springs, but anyone who's played with KE's know if you have commo shocks it's as safe as factory with full height springs. Rear Kings are fine, but the fronts are a bit soft IMO, unless they're custom ordered. They're low height standard weight spring. $300 Otomoto weld on coilover kit, is the path I'm going on my corona struts, can be had in any spring weight. What you do just depends on if your looking for looks, or handling I guess.
  8. 5K advance curve is dud. the 4K will have more for sure. I'd honestly have a look into the jaycar kit. It'll even run on points and drive an electric coil.
  9. Hall effect makes a 5V square wave. Magnetic toyota pickups are a variable reluctance pickup and makes a low voltage AC spike. All K electric dizzies (almost all toyotas for this matter) run magnetic pickups.
  10. I have had bad thoughts about angle grinding an ST185 and an SW20 together for 5 years now... Twin 2GR's you reakon?

    E85

Cold fusion is a proven process. Will cost 3 trillion dollars, but a US company admitted they have perfected the technology in 1999 and didn't release any information until 2009 when they had created an economically viable process. Get on ted.com if you don't believe me.

    E85

On boosted car's I'd agree with more HP from E85. But there was a toymods member who spent $5K on a purpose built a 15:1 comp E85 beams atmo motor and it made 1 extra HP and used 40% more fuel than the lower comp motor with the same head. He said you could keep winding the timing advance past 45deg and the motor wouldn't ping, but it didn't make any extra power.

    E85

Exactly the same as running methanol, but ethanol is less corrosive. You need a brass float in the carby if its plastic. Holden claim for E85 you should run nickel plated steel fuel lines rather than aluminium, so get rid of any ally lines, brass will work there too. There are different grade silicone O-rings for the fuel system too, as standard has been known to perish faster. If you're only running for 24 hours I doubt a plastic float will fail in the carby in that time, don't quote me on it though :lolcry:
  14. Oh, I wondered what was getting the GTE. FWD torque steer party  I'd run an ecu that can run launch and traction control for those hairy wet weather days QLD is getting fond of again...
  15. The reason why I say that polarity is a myth is because I believe in the scientific method. Polarity is a observation that has a supported hypothesis, and should be replicable in other laboratories. A hypothesis should be definitive and create a model without need for if's and but's. All scientific theory that doesn't stand up to the to modern scrutiny and observations that advanced technology has given us should be taken with a grain of salt. For without questioning the scientific understanding using the latest technology at our disposal the human race wouldn't have got past 12th century alchemy and witch burnings. Get on google and do a few searches - there's water based ultrasonic part cleaners and all sorts of tech related to this finding for sale these days.
  16. BTW - Sorry for getting the word atom and molecule mixed up, I probably should have pre-read my post. I didn't realise such a simple mistake would confuse you so much. I was forwarded an article from scientific American from a mate a few years back about this. Polarity is a well established myth, like 99% of chemistry it's just a generalised model to explain observations, nothing in chemistry is set in concrete, it's just a guide, most chemistry is hundreds of years old. Only in the last decade has computer technology allowed us to question theories and model them, rather then just accepting others observations as fact. In the last 2 years has technology reached the level where we can really see an atom, which ironically is done with laser microphones and computer modeling- it's called Allosphere. Even heisenberg uncertainty principle which I was taught as fact is now also considered myth thanks to there work. There is no denying that molecules can have a net charge, but we were taught at school and UNI regarding polar / non polar molecules and there ability to associate in a solution like water and oil, don't mix because one is polar and one is not. Pure ethanol - which is meant to be a part polar /part non polar molecule? What wait? A bit of both? It mixes with petrol which is non-polar? Or water which is polar? Like dissolved like right? This is proof enough that polar and non polar solubility is a model that is full of holes and doesn't work in all cases and therefore isn't fact. If polar / non-polar solubility was a definitive truth there should be no exceptions to the rule. Removing dissolved gases from the solution ultrasonically can be done in a shed, not a lab - there is no chemical reaction that has taken place to make the mixture associate, yet polar and non polar mix - so Polar theory in relation to solubility has been disproved, or is an incomplete model that needs to be revised thanks to recent observations and technologies that give us a much better understanding of whats going on.
  17. In recent years, they've proven polar and non polar molecules don't exist. By accident a scientist mixed water and petrol and using ultrasonic resonance which harmonically resonated and released the oxygen that's hiding between each ethanol atom that stops it mixing with water or petrol. They can mix anything these days... The worst part about pure ethanol is that it's hygroscopic, it absorbs H20 from the atmosphere. So without added solvents to take up the 5% water it can't be held at more than 95% in an open container without 5% water saturation. The corrosive elements are those that are hiding in the 5% mix that stops water entering the fuel.
  18. It is sad that Mexicans can't eat corn bread anymore due to the value of corn when converted to ethanol outweighs the price the Mexicans can afford to pay for food... The global free market allows profits to overshadow the productivity of any countries populous. The problem is that burning fuel that has a 1 year life cycle to manufacture vs million year old dinosaur juice is that the Co2 emissions from burning the fuel is less than the plants absorb per unit of energy and there is a perpetual cycle of renewal that is possible with renewable ethanol energy. Have you looked at what Brazil has done in the last decade! It's incredible.
  19. If you tune your car right E10 is cheaper and you'll get as much milage out of a tank. My 92 Camry likes E10 more than 98 ron premium. The car just hit 400,000km and has been running E10 for 80,000km. Will see if I can clock a million K's in the next decade, will pull out the fuel lines and prove alloy doesn't get corroded by ethanol. It's alcohol not an acid or a base, the government is fear mongering about E10 fuel. The USA has been running 10 - 20% ethanol since the late 80's, without any troubles. The slow burning properties of mixing ethanol in octane/ heptane mix reduces monoxide by massive levels, it's good stuff. Just make sure you advance your timing a touch and reset your ECU and you'll be amazed how well the E10 runs in most EFI cars.
  20. Sweet as, keen to check out the beast next weekend if your going to be around, ended up needing 4 new tyres so no escape from Boonah town yet!
  21. I don't mind merchants making a few bucks, but the trend in Australia for primary production is that the workers, the makers make 10% of the retailer, who says the price is high because when you buy an QLD mango they freight it to Melbourne to a depot and back to Brisbane for sale.
  22. Sin taxes are the scourge of the earth, the entire worlds swing from democracy to elected dictatorship has completely lost touch to the fundamental fact that on this earth we are all in charge of our own path, liberals like to call themselves conservatives and there core of there belief is meant to revolve around the fact that the nature of human existence is too complicated for any individual to have enough understanding to lay down the recipe of how any other individual should live. In the Roman empire it was law that every year there were randomly selected members of the population who were paid a fair wage, from all walks of life that sat in a stand in what we know know as "Question Time". They were given many buckets of rotten fruit to throw at the politicians they felt were lying to the caucus. In this day and age there is no justice for politicians that lie and manipulate to get there own bidding. Without life imprisonment or death penalty for politicians that lie to to catch the hearts of uneducated swing voters we will continue to see the socioeconomic divide grow between the working and ruling class. As the monopolies like wollies, coles, walmart and costco move in (American companies are moving here now) and take away any ability for the individual to have any chance of making a decent buck without joining the ranks of these monopolies we have to decide if we're OK with how the world is going. All the big monopolies believe in exponential growth, in a world with finite resources and limitations on the population that our biosphere can support. Shareholders in companies these days somehow overrule the average Joe and Jane that loose there jobs because this 1/4 of the year only 6 billion not 8 billion was made. Buy from your local grocer and butcher and buy Australian made. Presently over 29% of Australia is owned by china, a communist country without and moral stance for workers rights. Under free trade we'll see an ever worsening effect as small Australian companies have to compete at business level with monopolies and communist dictatorships to ever see any exports from our country that aren't the raw mineral resources that we can supply. Do you feel OK that the average Chinese worker makes $4 a day to supply us with with endless quantities of poorly made junk that gets melted down and set back to China at the end of its year-long lifespan. Whats worse is the distributor, the wholesaler and the retailer all make more off that junk than anyone in China. They are all merchants, who for 1000's of years have been the lowest bunch on the socioeconomic scale, as they don't make or do anything, their entire industry is parasitic. The government was originally created to share and distribute what we all have to share on this earth. Our current governmental climate has been tuned to ensure productivity and profiteering for the 1% of the populous that control 99% of the worlds wealth, it's just going to get worse if we don't stand up. I'm sure in 50 years when Australia has it's own sweat shops everyone will understand what's happening...
  23. lol, that would have made a mess, nice warm spot under the bonnet though :P Just a carpet python, most friendly snake in Aus I'd say.
  24. I know they share bellhousings, but I'm not sure if the overdrive gear makes the W50 any longer than a W40, maybe google for a few pics of the 2 boxes to make an assumption.
  25. That looks great! So whens the production of bumpers to fund beer and tyres going to come into production ;)
