towe001 Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 Unless the celica is the 4a or 7a version the auto won't fit. You'd have to get one from either another ae82 or one from a later model (eg - ae92, ae101). But you'll have to look into the driveshafts and see how they fit up to the auto. They could be of a different style to the ae82. I know on the manual ae82 the driveshafts bolt up the gearbox while the later model manuals have the shafts fit in to the gearbox and use something like circlips to hold the shafts in. Quote
sibbo Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 i am now the proud owner of an AE82 Corolla and a new member of rollaclub! its a fairly tidy little car and i have got it for a leaner driver to learn to drive in, she doesnt want to drive manul yet so I'm looking at converting to an auto. my mate a auto gearbox for a celica and i was curious if that would fit? i don't know anything about these cars thats why I'm here. if that wont fit what gearbox should i be looking for? in honest opinion it would be a bit of a hassell changin it ova. definately want the auto?
