well if it came from a 1972 rolla with a 3K engine its KE20 and i have a KE11 so my question was does the tailshaft from 1972-1974 have the same size tailshaft so i can find one to continue my work thank you!

no, it doesn't

some ke20s in australia had a borg warner diff, some had a jap diff, so the diff pinion and maybe the unis will be different

if they both had jap diffs, then the ke20 tailshaft just needs to be shortened a bit. and if the diff pinions are different, you can change them over as all jap tailshafts have the same universal joints. i have a ke10 tailshaft somewhere, i'll see if i can find it and measure it for you

If the KE20 was delivered from japan it will have a banjo diff. If it was assembled in Australia it will have a borg warner diff except for a select few (mid 1973 I THINK) that have banjo diffs due to supply problems with borg warner (I think employees were on strike or something?)
