Probably a simple answer to this one...

 

How do you rotate an engine that's not complete? i.e. to bring pistons to TDC and that sort of thing. My 3K has no head.

put a socket on the crankshaft pulley bolt and turn it. if you don't have the pulley on that's ok, just put the bolt in and turn it

 

or put a couple of flywheel bolts in and wedge a bar between them and turn
