Hi guys, need some help with a 4age I am trying to get running. It appears to have no pulse to the injectors.

The spark is fine and the engine will start and run for a couple of seconds if you manually feed it fuel through the intake. The engine is an AE86 big port with a MAP sensor. All the earths appear fine.I have power to the injectors but no negative pulse. The engine had previously been fitted to ke70 and was supposed running fine when it was parked up.It has sat for about 5 years.

Any ideas on what could be the cause?

One thing which seems odd to me is that the TVIS solenoid is energised when the ignition is turned on.I would not expect this to be normal but having little experience with these engines I would not know.

(Trev posting).

This normally happens when the signal from the pickup on the dizzy is not getting sent back to the ECU, Either because you have a dead pickup or a broken wire, If you are Brisbane local I can have a look for you.

Thanks for the replys guy.Medicine man,I have checked wiring from injectors to ECU and circuit seems fine.

Monkey wrench, thanks for the offer but unfortunately I am in Perth so a little far away.So are you saying that if the ECU has no signal from the distributor it will still have spark?

I will check continuity from ecu to the dizzy and try and find a voltage spec whilst cranking.

Yeah, There is 2 pickup in the dizzy, one is for spark and the other is for the injector signal.

Time to buy a new multimeter.Still had no negative pulse at injectors.Decided to feed power to an injector to see if I could here it go click.Seemed to test ok.Connected back up and cranked the engine.Fired once.Tried a few times got to where it would fire everytime I tried.Left it for a while and tried again. Was firing more.Witha bit of coaxing I managed to get the engine to run(roughly).Sounded like it was only on 2 cylinders and it was.

With it running I started disconnecting the injectors one at a time to see what difference they made.Found cylinders 2 and 3 were not working at all.

Fed power to them to check their operation(individually).Connected back up and bingo,4 cylinders.Still not running right of course but they are all pulling their weight.Looks like the injectors will need to come out.

The best thing is that I now know the engine is good before I drop it in the car.No smoke,no rattles, starts easy now.

Now wheres my chain block?
