the 2zz-ge engine would have to be the most recent engine to be put into the corollas that we all now and love.

Does anyone know anyone that knows them inside out ??? I've been chasing someone in brisbane or anywhere in AUS that can talk to me about them. As I have basically come to the lengths as far as bolt on mods goes for my rolla so now its down to internals. or anything else that we can think of.

Any info would be great thx guys :P

Nick - I'm not going for forced induction. I want to stay with the hard tuned atmo engine. I know this is going to cost more $$$ but I personally don't like the idea of just whacking on a turbo and a few more bits and voila instant power.

The simple 'bolt on' mods that I have done so far are

Cold Air Induction (TRD)

Headers (TRD)

Custom Exhaust (CES Racing)

Uncihip

Clutch/Flywheel (Jim Berry) *coming shortly*

along with alot of other litte things that are more rice than go :(

I'm very familar with what 'needs' to be done with the engine to continue getting results from it. I'm just not confident in myself to do the internal work. Hence my question :P

Revhead - hehehe Bruce Sollitt the Aisia Pacific Rep for TRD over there in NZ has already taken a few thousand from my card :D and do we know if toyota use the 2zz in racing applications (apart from leanne farrell)? generally not most of the time they use the rock solid 3sgte :)

If you click on signature you will see a list of mods and rice that has already been done to my rolla

rev - had a look at the page :D the 2zz in a 480kG car would be nice :D

ITs still using stock internals though for only 200hp arnt they?

I just contacted a US based company for info on some of their brass busshes and other fittings to help the feel of the shift in the car as this is one area that has given the sportivo owners alot of grief :)

yep thats me :)

those engines are stock, they are just blueprinted and run with a motec.

they lap pukekohe faster than a V8 super car.

iv driven a NZ new GT and a few runnx and allexs, and i don't know what you guys are complaining about. never had any issues with the box.

thought it was you warwick :)

So how do the engines go running under the motec? I would love to have a motec running my little rocket :D any chance of getting some of that info? how difficult was it with the VVT-i and the mappings???

Its not the box that causes the issues its the surrounding clutch etc. Are the runx/allex that you driving assembled in south africa or japan???

they go very well. but i can't/wont get to drive one! for one thing i can't fit in the cars

i know someone looking at running one as a rally car, so ill know more about how they go with a motec then, their plan isto bring the vvti in earlier and make it less peaky. they really could do with another 1500rpm in the powerband.

motecs can handle vvt no problems. setting it up could take some dyno time though!

runnx/allex are JDM imports. the GT however was a SA car.

That could be the difference ours is the SA built car..... :)

bringing the 'lift' in earlier has always been a consideration for celica and anyone else who runs the 2zz for that matter, but after looking around the net it seems that the more desirable option is to make the power band greater by extending the full rev range (out to 8500/8600) as the enigine was originally made to do.

so peak power would be from 6200 til 8600.

or the other option which is what lotus have done is make it so that the power band is longer on deceleration only, so instead of lift disenguaging at 6200 RPM it will stay enguaged untill 5800 RPM in 1st & 2nd gear, 6000 for 3rd & 4th and finally 6200 for 5th and 6th

worth looking into.

8600rpm eh. thats a lot

we'll have to wait til it goes on a dyno, as i speak the car hasnt even been purchased yet.... but when/if it goes ahead, i intend to get righ in amoungst it! :)

the thing with the 2zzge is, its new. not many people can afford to play with new engines

Yes being so new it is an issue ...hence why I pull my hair out trying to source new items for my car and or community.

hope all goes well with the car warwick. PLEASE keep me posted.

oh and let your mate know that an oil pump upgrade is worth while investment if running hard all day everyday :)
