carvets Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Hi there, back in '92 when i had my bike license but not my car license , my GF of the time talked me into borrowing money of my works Credit Union to buy one of these great looking new Toyota Corolla Secas . I loved the look of the car , but i never got to drive it as we split up and i left her with the car and the repayments before i could get my car license. Now, a million years later , my old '95 Hyundai has died and so i sought out a Corolla , the car i never got to drive, ( well my GF did give me a driving lesson that nearly ended up in homicide ) . I live on the Far North Coast so my best option was Sydney. I took a few days, went down looked at a variety of cars and then saw this one on Gumtree of all places. Went out to the west of Sydney, drove up and when i saw it i knew it was the one. I was hoping for the little 'ol lady to churchmobile and it wasn't far off. Clean, straight, detailed , factory tape player and no added speaker holes ( a good indication it hasn't been young guyed ) . 144.000 k's on the clock and everything was working. Took it for a drive and it went smooth and felt good on the road. Got it for $3400 down from $4000 and had a nice drive back to Byron Bay, albeit listening to FM radio and my Ipod most of the way back. I figure its an AE92 with a 4AFE motor ,...its an auto and while i would have preferred a "manuel" , its nice to cruise in an auto even though there is seemingly less grunt . have just spent 2 days installing my sound system in it ....A new Pioneer 4 channel USB SD card reading model i picked up for $220 ,with my old Denon Amp and Infinity Kappa 6.5 " splitz and 6x9's ,.....However i didn't want to hack at the door just yet so i built a parcel shelf and put the 6's in it only to find one of them is stuffed ( i also knew that one 6x9 was stuffed, so temporarily i popped the good 6x9 in the shelf with my one good 6" and so i have have music that doesn't sound half bad. I have some DD 4"'s coming for the front. This is all temp until i have more money for better speakers. I don't have any plans to change the way it is for now, i'm happy to keep it as is and granny around in it listening to to a mix of Grunge and Psytrance ,....kinda strange for a 54 yo, but thats what i like. Nice to know there is a place i can come for advice and to ask questions . Also good to finally drive the car i once owned and to be a Toyota owner driver . Its much nicer to drive than the Hyundai,.....any advice or info is welcome ,thanks ! Quote
