Ares I-x Launch

Featured Replies

In case anyones interested Ares I-X launch is scheduled for an hour from now. If you wanna watch it best fire up NASA TV shortly before hand (or even now, pre-launch can be pretty interesting) http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/

If you don't know what Ares I-X is, its the first test flight of the rocket/launch system thats planned to replace the Space Shuttle. More info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ares_I-X

Spotted this on the news the other night. Cool.

I'm pretty sure my mate is in the States at the moment and planned to see this launch too. I'm heading over next year so I'll be keeping an eye out for planned launches.....

I didn't get to watch it on the stream unfortunatly. The first night was scrubbed and the second night they didn't launch until very late at night our time. NASAs got a nice youtube video here:

Unfortunatly the next Ares launch (Ares I-Y) is scheduled for 2014, thats provided the program is allowed to continue. You might be able to catch one of the five last Shuttle flights though. Other than that there seems to be a Atlas/Delta/Falcon launch pretty much monthly at Cape Canaveral. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_in_spaceflight

Next shuttle launch is coming up around the 16th I think.
