from what i've been told the 16v 4age is a relativly easy swap as the engine bay is identical to an ae92 sx. i've heard that the diff lock solenoid needs to be moved as well. just don't hold me to that I'm still looking into doing this swap myself :blinks:

Better yet do your own research instead of constantly posting threads. Others have to do the leg work to gain knowledge so don't expect someone to hand it to you on a silver platter. Try the other forums as well.

 

The reason you need to remove the diff lock on a 20v is the vacuum setup doesn't clear the quads although I have heard of someone that was able to pull it off. Easy enough to rig up some other form of actuation though.

the 16v is the easiest option. i'd recommend doing close to what i've started get yourself an sx hatch or seca, replace the entire engine bay into the ae95. gave myself the lazy man and excuse to actualy rebuilt the 16v 4age as most that you'll find these days have either been thrashed or just need a really good service.

 

the only thing i ditched was the 4age dash for a seca taco cluster (my 89 ae95 only had the speedo) because it ment i could keep an empty din and the diff lock. on the twin cam forums there was a good 20v convertion and his diff lock was don't with a couple of central locking actuators. but imo using the only reason for the diff lock is for dirt roads or sandy roads as you can't really drive over 20-30km with it locked
