1979 Ke50 Rolla

Hey guys,

I'll get this hit off. Recently I just discovered that my girlfriends father has a 1979 KE50 corolla sitting in his garage, he bought it brand new back in the day for $10k.

He's quite attached to it and loves it to bits as it was his first car and he still has it to this day.

The body is loaded with rust, the engine which I'm led to believe is a toyota 5K engine has roughly 350,000km on it, it's had a rebuild and is probably due for another one quite soon as it has just been sitting there for the last couple years and only got driven a tiny distance every few months.

The interior is still original but very beaten up and weathered, we were trying to get him to sell it but he is to attached to it; So we have come to the conclusion that we need to give it a good old fashioned re-newal.

We've decided on the basics, we are going to strip it down and have the body treated for rust, possibly new panels they are that bad, redo the entire interior and throw out the old engine for a new 4 cyl possibly a turbo one, something like a CA nissan engine or the likes, redo the driveline to suit and some suspension tickling.

At the moment I'm still fairly new to rebuilding cars, I have only been into modifying them but not rebuilding so any advice would be highly appreciated.

I will try to get some pics of it up a bit later but at the moment just getting established on here.

I welcome thoughts, advice on where to go and what not/to do.

We are in Perth so don't know if theres many Perthies here.

Cheers.

-Andrew
