Beams Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 Hi, Sorry if this has been covered. Just rebuilt a carb off a KE30 Corolla. Its currently being used in a Diahatsu Charade Turbo project. Car starts, drove it home, but I have some quick Qs, because I m not familiar with the carbs from the KE30. If I hit the accelerator, there is a slight delay, before the car surges forward. At first I thought maybe my accelerator pump wasn't working, but its fine. Is this expected from a 1970 carb? Secondly, (I should of did some research) which jet is the primary and which is the secondary? The one on the "wall" of the bowl, or the one on the bottom of the bowl? Quote
Unna Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 Hey mate, I just got a carb rebuilt too (3k). Mine responds stright away as soon as i tap the accelerator its off. Also the secondary jet should be the bigger one.. Quote
Beams Posted October 25, 2010 Author Report Posted October 25, 2010 Had some spare jets and put them in, instead of the 20 year old jets I was using. Works great now. Now just to fix the richness issue... Quote
philbey Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Put it on a dyno, you will get a proper tune and much better power that way. Quote
Andy43 Posted October 27, 2010 Report Posted October 27, 2010 In carby rebuild kits there are two holes in the accelerator pump you may have it in the wrong hole Andy Quote
