Guest Brad Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 Hey guys, I think I posted on this site before, but for some reason I can't seem to dig the old post up to put some more recent photos, nothing much has changed. Anyways here are some recent pictures. Some things I would like to do: The bump strip needs some attention, I either want to take it off all together or move it down along the door line. Because at the moment it is looking really tacky. The motor needs new valve stem seals I think, blows some blue smoke on startup and around town sometimes. The front metal bumper bar has a little dint if a keen eye can spot it out. Apart from that I'm keeping it original. Hope you like the pics. http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/5868/img387916007ce.jpg http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/8836/img247616008mt.jpg http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/263/img410216009xc.jpg Cheers :ban: Quote
Super Jamie Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 a very nice clean corolla, looks like grandpa's car :ban: the bump strip stuff does suck, you can take it off but it's hard to get the glue and crap off the paint, they tend to become one after 30-odd years that being said, if you took them off and did a neat job, i don't think it would be too hard for a good panelbeater to fix the paint up so it looks original and smooth Quote
Guest Brad Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 Thanks for the comments Super Jamie. I was thinking about taking the bump strip off, any good ideas to try and get the black glue off? Thanks, Brad Quote
Super Jamie Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 hair dryer to make it sticky and pliable, rub with thinners and something soft like a thick rag or teatowel, something soft and non-abrasive (ie: not steel wool). the lighter you do it, the less chance you'll damage the paint, but the longer it will take i think it's going to damage the paint underneath the strip no matter what perhaps try on the part that has come off already? just to see how you go Quote
Guest Brad Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 Thanks for the reply. I will try to start where some has already started to come off. And tell you how I went. Thanks again, Brad Quote
