Q. Why does the tyre width change the end speed?

 

Because the Profile number (45,55,65,75) is a percentage of the tyre width, not an actual measurement.

 

for example 245/50 R15's have a tyre wall of around 122.5mm. (245 x 0.5)

 

It's a common misconception.
