well bypass the internal ignitor, and hook up an external one then.

actually, all the ignitor does is switch the coil, and set the dwell i think. the coil is what determines the spark strength.

you compared the voltage from your old bosch scorcher and a 5k elec dizzy once, didnt you?

yup. i have a spark tester.

 

the ke15 at idle was something like 25KV, and the ke16 30KV.

 

the ke15 has bosch scorcher points dizzy, echlin gx80 coil, and jaycar HEI.

the ke16 has 5k internal ignitor electronic dizzy, and bosch transformer coil.

 

have been meaning to swap the ignition systems over one of these days.

i've been thinking of getting one of those transformer coils myself, my hilux had one stock, should have stolen it while i had the chance ;)
