luke.t. Posted July 20, 2011 Report Posted July 20, 2011 hi all.... alright so i swapped out my 4k from my old ke70 into my ke26 a while back.... I'm at the point now where I'm just gettin all the little bits finished and remembered there was an issue with the stock temp gauge.. .... ok so when the 4k was in the ke70 temp gauge worked fine etc ect ....original 3k in the ke26, the temp gauge worked fine etc etc ....new 4k in the ke26, temp gauge is not working.... alright so on initial start up gauge goes straight up to above hot (i know its not hot cos its been running for 3 seconds lol). leave the car running until the thermostat opens and find the temp gauge starts to slowly go back into normal zone but then just keeps goin to cold.. so the question is has anyone had a similar problem. do the 3k and 4k temp senders run on different resistance's? or is the temp sender just f@$ked lol. P.S i know the cooling system is fine as everything is new, radiator, thermostat, water pump and flushed with new coolent. so if you know whats goin on or can help pm me or post here cheers Quote
Evan G Posted July 20, 2011 Report Posted July 20, 2011 coolant temp sensors are normally negative temperature coefficient. (resistance lowers when it gets hot) so if your sender is open curcit (low resistance) your gauge will read hot. swap the sender or get a aftermarket electronic gauge (don't get mechanical. youll do a HG before it shows Hot) Quote
GJM85 Posted July 20, 2011 Report Posted July 20, 2011 put the 3k thermostat housing on the 4k. Quote
luke.t. Posted July 22, 2011 Author Report Posted July 22, 2011 had a good look at it and it seems to be in the wiring... CBF finding the break/short so i ordererd an electrical temp gauge this morning cheers for the help lads Quote
