diegoh
I would like to have a 7k motor one day and just wondering which gearbox I could use to upgrade to a 5 speed when I go 7k or if anyone knows of a full mechanical 4 speed auto that could bolt up to the 7k? regards, D
towe001
GM's 4L30-E basically its a four speed version of the trimatic (aka TH180/3L30) It has a split bellhousing like the trimatic but unlike the trimatic that was found behind a few four bangers it only, from what i could figure out, came behind sixes. BMW's 3 series, 5 series, Z3 Holden VR/S Isuzu/Holden Rodeo/Trooper I'm not driving my thing anymore so I dropped the ball on the idea You might be able to swap the bellhousings over between the 4L30 and trimatic. But the 4L30 was built for a six (or at least from what i could figure out) so you might find it a real slug behind a four.
diegoh
I actually thought toyota made their own 4 speed mechanical activated autos with aisin warner The liteace km20 or 1991 with 5k supposedly has a G40 transmission? Therefore I could use a g52 5 speed from a Hiace as far as I can find for auto I thought I could use the A43D??? or from the townace 85 model but don't know the code it had a 2y motor. reason I think the g40 is in atm & can fit g52 is due to this wiki text... The 1.8 L (1,781 cc) 7K was first introduced in 1983. Cylinder bore was 80.5 mm (3.17 in) and stroke was 87.5 mm (3.44 in). Was available with a 5 speed manual & 4 speed automatic transmission. 7K is available in KR42 Townace SBV vans (1997- 2007) using a large G52 5 speed gearbox (Same bellhousing to box pattern as W55), or automatic.
