Ke55 Lights

So me ke55 coupe's headlights are little bastards. They've done this a bunch of times but eventually fix themselves, it's weird. but this time it's been a while. so at the moment when i turn them on nothing happens but my highbeams light comes on without any actual headlights coming on. when i push the stick forward for my high beams nothing happens either. but when i pull it forward for temporary beams they work?

 

I'm guessing it's a dirty connection in the unit but it's hard getting in there to clean it out. any my auto elec is recovering from surgery for a couple months.

 

any thoughts?

so when i get a chance, probably tomorrow, I'll take off the steering wheel and clean out that whole area, see if that helps
