ke70Chris Posted March 17, 2012 Report Posted March 17, 2012 hey guys, i am doing a very unusual thing to me ke70 i want to lower my diff ratio to about 3.5:1 however i cannot seem to find the specs on the width of an s series diff and i know the f series diff is about 20mm to 30mm wider than a t series. so what i would like to know is will i need to shorten an f series to fit my ke70 panel van, also would there be any other problems that i may come across? cheers. 19914afc Posted March 17, 2012 Report Posted March 17, 2012 Pretty sure you will need to shorten it but there may be one that is the right length, I think they are 1410 standard I got a hilux diff for mine which is the right width. Why do you want a F series? How much power are you making? I might have a spare hilux diff the right length that should bolt it (not sure if the leaf mounts are the same though) Quote
the witzl Posted March 18, 2012 Report Posted March 18, 2012 Volvo 240 or 740 series diffs are the perfect width - 1410mm from wheel mounting face to mounting face. They are cheap as chips to buy, tough as freaken nails, and there there are a few options with final drive ratios. Added bonus - they come with twin piston disc brakes. Picking ratios is easy, there is a sticker on them which tells you the gear ratios. You can also buy a Detroit Trutrac torsen LSD centre for them. Ive got one fitted to my KE70 project car, which should be seeing around 400HP, and i know of a few other cars making plenty more power thru them regularly. Quote
