Ke70 Suspention And Steering For Street Use

KE7T

Recommended Posts

HI ALL i am building my ke70 for street use with the 20 valve / t50 / t series i am in the process of purchacing parts for my build and ive just got some questions i would be really pleased if somebody could take the time to answer . what type of shocker/ spring / steering are you guys using and or recomend . i am leaning towards the ae86 adjustable struts with cusco tops as there seems to be a huge amount of springs and shocks avaliable if i go this route what kg springs work best for road going rollas and do i really need adjustable shockers i am planing on fitting adjustable rear spring platforms if they are legal ? and a tower brace (TOWER TO TOWER NOT THE TRI FIREWALL STYLE). For the rear end i don't want any intrusions/ bars inside of the boot but i read somewhere that by fitting a towbar it really stiffens up the rear end ? Another option is seam welding if its legal of course it may affect crumple zone i read somewhere else and maybe those ultraracing inner guard braces. also thinking about ae86 shorter power steering arms to make the steering more direct but will the stock ke70 tie rods be ok length wise for these arms. Another route i could go is an expensive QAUIFE QUICK RACK FROM THE UK has anybody used this with the ae86 shorter arms ? . iam thinking about fitting FULL nolathane bushes to every suspention joint or is anyone running rose joint rear links and front control arms and those metal bushed castor bars would these be to rigid and cause chassis to CRACK ? i am not at all concerned about comfort i just want it to handle the best it can possibly get for the road have not decided yet on wheel size iether 14x7 ma61 with 185 60 or lower profile or maybe 15s. just out of curiosity with front end alighnment settings generally how much negative camber would be ok and i spoke to a front end tech today about castor but would like your opinion on what castor works best for your road going corollas eg : maximum positive or the lowest positive . i will post pics of my build soon the body is currently being dipped to remove all paint and little bits of rust here and then it will be treated to prevent any future rust happening so basically its a full ground up resto job using as much brand new parts as possible i made the decition to restore my corolla becouse i really love them for their looks and being rear wheel drive.... THANKS ALL
