BlueKsev Posted May 13, 2012 Report Posted May 13, 2012 (edited) So my 4a-c is running a little lean now with an open air filter and straight through exhaust, has anyone on here tuned the standard carby?? Is it possible?? I know theres the idle mix adjustment, but any way of making it a bit richer in the revs? I don't mind stripping it down/ experimenting i have a spare carby here if i stuff it up haha. No Webers or equivalent fancy carby talk around here please, got a set of kawasaki zx-9 carbs going on my 3T, the 4a just has to last until then without me spending money on it, so budget mods are sweeet. Any help appreciated, information on drilling out the jets etc. cheers Edited May 13, 2012 by BlueKsev Quote
BlueKsev Posted May 15, 2012 Author Report Posted May 15, 2012 Meh, sorted it out me self anyway. For anyone else looking to do the same thing to their carb, take the main jets out, find a drill bit that fits through the centre with the closest fit - you will need a very small set of drill bits. Put the drill bit in a drill, slip it into the jet and just spin it while moving the jet side to side and just wearing it in for a while. This will enlarge it just enough, it wont need much. Then i got some strings of cotton dipped in brass-o, and pulled them back and forth through the jet to clean up any tiny imperfections By looking inside the carb i don't think there is any way of tuning the standard carb without new jets, as some people have suggested in other forums.
