kazzpog33 Posted June 13, 2012 Report Posted June 13, 2012 Guys, any idea why i can't find the proper valve clearance on my 3k..? this is a new rebuild 3k.. after i install the head, timing chain and rocker arm... I used the lazy method TDC at cylinder 1 firing adjusting valve 1,2,3,5 then crank 360 degress set 4,6,7,8... it looks that cylinder 1 and 4 intake has a very big offset the same as exhaust for 2 and 3... Am i wrong with my timing chain alignment?... just noob.. Thanks!~! Quote
Andy43 Posted June 25, 2012 Report Posted June 25, 2012 The quick way to check cam timing is. Bring 1 up to TDC, by spining around the crank until to get to 0 on the timing mark. Whip the rocker cover off, the rockers for 1 or 4 should be rocking .i.e. both exhaust and inlet valves open the same amount. at the same time the opersat cylinnder will have both valves closed. .i.e If one is rocking four will be closed or if four is rocking one will be closed. This is also the best way to do valve lash, just work your way though the firing cycle spinging the crank 180deg at a time. CYA Andy Quote
kazzpog33 Posted June 30, 2012 Author Report Posted June 30, 2012 Thanks Andy, I miss the timing mark on the camshaft... I look on the dotted circle instead of the spockets dowel pin... Helps a lot!! Thanks.. Quote
