Pete's Baby Poo (Gold!!!) Ke70

Hey guys, have a build thread on 86dc but thought since I've gotten so much info etc from this forum, and I'm on it every day I might as well chuck it up here too!

Most of this is just copy pasted over so might not make all that much sense haha.

Have owned the car for about 3 years, love it more every day.

Anyway here's a rough specs list;

- 4k, 4spd

- Pacemaker extractors

- 1.75" exhaust with a resi and old oval muffler

- Strut brace

- T18 front bumper (have a rear but haven't made mounts for it)

- Tacho in dash

- Rev limiter

- Nardi

- Volk racing mesh 14x7.5" & 8"

- Special rear flares (you'll see)

And that's about it for now.

I'm also planning on doing a 4age conversion soon enough, but I'm a super slacker and haven't made time for myself to do much on it, plus I need my old man's help for pretty much everything as I'm still learning.

Have waiting to go in a 4age bigport, genuine RWD from a jdm 86. Has twin 45mm webers, scorcher ignition system. Came with a T50, engine and gearbox mounts, front half tailshaft, extractors and full exhaust, 3 puck button clutch. Old man and I are modifying a ke70 clutch pedal to suit an ae71 mc instead of paying $250+ for an ae71 pedal box.

At the moment looking for front coilovers so I can lower the darned thing, i've never been happy with the ride height, only has standard shocks and springs chopped (1-1 &1/2 coils). Today I was also thinking about vinyl wrapping the entire car, possibly matte white. Reason being is because there's a decent amount of rust that needs repairing, and also front guards will need flaring, and vinyl wrapping seems like a relatively cheap and easy way to make the car look nice if you do it yourself. I really don't want to have primer patches everywhere after the rust is fixed.

Anyway here's the story I guess;

Had a ke70 for a while completely stock, with 300+ on the clock, drove in it for most of my L's, then a brothers friend needed a car, so we pimped it out with some white GT stripes, and white stockos. And gave him that.

This one is a different story; dad was doing some work at a ladies house, fixing an aerial or something, and he noticed a brown ke70 in her garage, asked her about it. She had owned it since new, always garaged, 17x,xxx Km's on it, it had broke down a few years ago, and she had it towed home and left it in the garage. She told my dad if he could get it running, it's his. My dad had a look at it and it turned out it was just a blown head gasket, somehow he got it running, and drove it home. That's when I got my hands on it!

Car was sent to dad's mate who put in the new head gasket and apparently did some work as well, new valve springs etc.

Didn't really do anything to it until I got my P's, spent a year looking for parts and collecting just some small stuff, extractors, muffler, some wheels.

The 4k goes well, obviously one day will want a 4age but for now it's good enough, spins "a wheel" in 3rd gear in the wet, good fun!

Few days before I got my P's I put on the front chrome bumper (have the back just haven't made up mounts to fit it yet), put in a custom carby rev limiter + installed tacho into the dash instead of clock, gave it a good polish, installed a sound system, and a wannabe "DRiFT" knob. (love the brand!)

Tacho install, was a hassle to install, had to disconnect the circuit board of the tacho as it wouldnt fit, then lengthen the wires and mount the circuit board somewhere else. Also included is a relay based rev limiter, got the idea off of this post on Rollaclub

My dad wired it up, but didn't use that post as a guide he just figured it out himself, the inital Idea was from there though. It works well!!! Sounds sick too. It's adjustable aswell.

And challengers that I got just the other day, 15x8 -4, rear tyres are bald so need new tires for them before I put them on, the front's stick out of the guard 15mm+ so need to either flare them/negative camber. Didn't try them on the rear. Wan't to get proper springs as well as short stroke shocks, as springs are currently cut, only a coil so hopefully it's not dangerous.

Over the past few weekends been doing a bit of planning for rear guards, have just been driving with massive scrub for a few weeks. Ended up getting a metal worker, one of my dads mates to help us out making up some rear guards, have pics of progress and that.

test fitting, just screwed them in.

Well haven't updated this in ~2 years. Probably because I've done jack poop on it in two years.

Last 2 years summed up from last time I updated:

Sometime in 2010 had some trouble with cops 'cause I was fully sick and did fully hektik drifting near my house. They came to my place told me to stop or else, so I stopped driving like the usual d*ck P plater.

Bought an R32 4 door, n/a, manual, which sat around unreg for 6 mnths, got rego, drove it around for 2-3 mnths with a hollowed out cannon(deadening fell out, jdm kakimoto quality), headlight out etc. It did burnouts which I thought was fully sick. Didn't drive the KE during this time as it had bald tyres front and rear (wheels were bought with low tread).

Got an EPA in the mail for the R32, then got defected a week later in the city. Changed tires on the KE and started driving it again, then got an EPA in the mail for that too. Changed the exhaust to something decent instead of a sh*tty $20 cannon.

Cleared EPA and drove the KE around for 6 mnths or so while the R32 sat defected.

I then decided I was a pro drifter and wanted to get the R32 ready for winton matsuri in 2011. Wanted coilovers/locker, needed subframe bushes etc. But I'm a cheapo so didn't end up getting any of this stuff, didnt get a RWC in time, so then it sat around for another 6 months whilst I kept dailying the KE.

Around that time I ended up buying a 4age package with 45mm webers, scorcher ignition etc, Mr Fujiwara (alberts) old ae86 setup.

Ended up clearing the defect off the r32 'cause i missed it, had some fun in that with open diff/worn clutch, shot subframe bushes (big smack every time you go on/off throttle), most boatlike suspension ever, and had crappy triangles on 15's from when i bought it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zS2U97iJGYI

Ended up smacking into a gutter on yarra boulevard because either A. I can't drive and I'm still a stupid P plater, or B. The crap suspension and triangles. I like to tell people it's the latter, but I know I'm lying.

So the 32's control arms were bent pretty bad. My old man replaced them for me after a few months and the car's sat in storage ever since, let the rego run out. Don't want the car anymore, will be selling it eventually but cbf at the moment. Anyone interested let me know haha. Car needs an alignment though.

Have been dailying the KE since. Decided I love the thing. But I'm still too cheap to spend serious coin on it, got a mortgage n shit.

Car got a full detail (clay bar/cut&polish/wax) a couple of months ago too.

Bought some volk meshies from yahoo jp through streeter which I got yesterday. 14x7.5/8 offset on ad was around -10 for both, measured. Need to measure it myself to find out exactly what they are. The silver ones are fully refurshbished brand new Wheel nuts and bolts, fresly painted and look properly polished. Black ones could use a lot of love. Buying tyres in the next couple of days so I can get these on ASAP, thinking of ku31's or 595's for the front, cheapies for rear. Any other recommendations for steerers?

Want coilovers but I'm too cheap to fork out decent money for them. But I definitely need to do something about the height. Have been slowly doing stuff to start the 4age conversion, don't want to fork out $250+ for an ae71 pedal box so me and the old man are modding the standard pedal.

And thats pretty much where I'm at now. I've been too lazy to do much work on it, maybe I need to passenger a KE/AE with a 4age to give me some motivation.

Couple more pics

Oh yeah, when I'm on fulls end of next year I plan on buying a 32 2dr gtst, will be white, gtr front, will have an F off widebody on it, and be low.

But hey when do things ever goto plan.

Stop buying wheels and buy coilovers :P

One thing I reckon you should do is shave those rear guards like this:

brownke.png

They look awesome but a bit like a mud flap on the rear. My $0.02.

But liking it a lot :y:

Thanks dude, funny thing; when I first did the guards and posted them in my thread on 86dc, someone did EXACTLY what you've just done except with a different photo, mentioned I should think about cutting them like that. I didn't like them at the start but they have grown on me, a little bit different than usual I guess. They look kinda mean when you're looking from directly behind as well :D They've been done properly like that, with a flat lip all around which you can see in that last photo i posted, so cutting them up would probably make them look like crap.

And wheels have resale value, coilovers probably won't. But you're right, I need me some!
