hey guys don't no if this has been covered before but i was wondering wats involved in putting a 5kc into a ke70? do they bold straight in or what plzz help me out cheers

It is a direct bolt in. A 7ke is a different matter though. A 5k should bolt shraight in with no problem at all. The hardest part is probally doing your fuel system. Because if you are putting in a 5k you would most likely be updating your fuel system, ie twin side draughts or 32/36 downdraught weber. Why you might ask because asian carbs are shit and while you are doing an engine conversion you might as well upgrade your carbie/fuel system or you could do efi or something if you have the time and the money. If you are serious about doing a the conversion good luck with it.

with the fuel system thing, what does the 5k run? a normal cam driven one like the 4k or is it an electric fuel pump? and what would you use or do for a better fuel supply?

7K can be carbie fed, the compression just needs to be right to get maxium power....the 5K still uses the stock fuel pump that the 4K's use, still runs off the cam and if you are going to put anything over a downdraft weber, think about upgrading to an electric pump.

To what i know is that a 5k is almost the same to a 4k. The only major difference being the larger capacity and a few little things. So therefore i would say that the fuel pump is the same for a 4k. Although from what i have been told some later japanese models differ. As for Fuel pumps anything after market would do the job better than a stock one. Bosh fuel pumps are commonly used. These can handle 300 bhp or more these retail anywhere form $120 or more. Or if you wont cheaper alternative a Vl fuel pump does the trick $30 from a wrecker.

 

If you wont more tech info on a 5k talk to Xany he has rebuilt one and knows it backwards. Hope this helps.

makes sense, but do the high pressure efi pumps, ie the vl pumps, do they work for carbies? or do u need a high flow low pressure one?

Yep it just requires a bit of messing around with pipes etc: nothing you can't do with a few beers some mechanical knowledge and half a day. I will try and get a pic of my mates ke30 with a Vl fuel pump he did it and he has not looked back.
