CAKEYBOOTYDUMMYDONKEYS Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 i just picked up a junk KE25 that i want to retrofit to something a little newer. my plans for this build is either an F20c/F22c or SR20det swap. AE86 front and rear coilovers w/ rear 4link and and ae86 rack steering. thats everything in barebones form. in a perfet world, all this would bolt on. obviously this isnt a perfect world. has anyone ever fitted an AE86 front crossmember to a KE25? this would kill 3 bird with one swing of the crossmember if i can get it to work. was planning on this for the purpose of using the AE86 steering column and rack/pinion, lower control arms, and the abundance of prefabricated engine conversion mount kits available on the market. i know that the AE86 cross member is wider than the KE25 framerails would allow for a direct bolt-on. i imagine all that is needed is to extend the mounting location inward of the engine bay, drill holes and viola. any tips and even links to where it has been done already will be much appreciated. ke70dave Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 (edited) edit: just read your post again. I see what you are doing now, especailly the steering. Why do you want to put the 86 cross member into the ke25? From a quick google the ke25 LCA is longer than the ae86 one, so if you are doing the cross memeber swap in order to fit the 86 LCA you might be going backwards a bit. this is pretty cool. http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/tech-conversions/57054-ke20-25-rack-pinion-conversion-guide-driving-well-my-car.html Edited January 2, 2013 by ke70dave Quote
CAKEYBOOTYDUMMYDONKEYS Posted January 2, 2013 Author Report Posted January 2, 2013 it only makes sense in terms of drifting the car and parts/modification are pretty diverse on the AE86 side Quote
