Dyzza Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 hey guys well i have just replaced my horribly inefficient 32/36 dfv (due to it being in need of rebuild/overhaul ... ) with a nice 32/36 dgav (water choke). ... I put it on the car after a few hours of cussing and what not, and realised i have forgotten to put on a gasket between the carby and the adapter plate! So the car revs, it seems to idle pretty well, but when you drive it it won't go past about 2700RPM without cutting out (or even if you put your foot down it wants to cut out). It will pick up again once the revs drop down. Is this likely air getting in between the carby and the adapter plate screwing up my air/fuel ratio ? Any other possible suggestions guys? its driving me nuts... I'm just disappointed she isn't running smooth like i was hoping :y: ... Cheers for ya help Dyzza Quote
love ke70 Posted March 4, 2006 Report Posted March 4, 2006 sounds very much like air leaking in when the vacuum increases. put it in and see what happens would be the logical thing to do wouldnt it? Quote
Dyzza Posted March 6, 2006 Author Report Posted March 6, 2006 alrighty i've put in a new gasket, spent a few hours mucking round only to start the car and find it doing the exact same thing ... i took the top off the carby (to take a look at the jets) and found out that there were no top jets (are these the idle jets >? ) ... i put these in from my original weber ... and the car now barely starts at all ... It barely revs, you have to pump the accelerator repeatedly. I can rule out the timing being off because i haven't played with that, and it was fine up until i took the old carby off .. The carby is supposedly in working order, i just can't figure out whats wrong with it. Anyways, thats enough whinging on my behalf ... Cheers Quote
