hi, coils? can someone please help in explaining coils and every thing that goes with them to me..

 

I got my hands on a new bosch gtr 40 i think its called, installed it just how the original coil came out.

The car was running pretty shotty, on accel in the 5,500-7,000 rpm range it would miss and splutter and carry on.

Is this because its not being grounded very well?

Also, what is the little cylindrical shaped thingy that is attached to the positive terminal of the coil via a wire, its bolted to a bracket on the actual coil bracket.

i took it off and it did nothing....?

Cylinder 3 spark plug is loosening off by itself, i don't kno why

 

Any help with any of these things would be much appreciated.
