October 7, 20242 yr comment_737032 Hello, Got couple questions about wheels, the car is oem condition with everything. I'm considering switching to either 14 or 15" rims. What tire size would you recommend to ensure a proper fit without rubbing against the body or suspension? I want to swap the KE30 front hubs for KE20 ones so I can change the bolt pattern to 4x114.3. I can machine the rear axles to a new pattern." Is it possible to do do? Edited October 7, 20242 yr by Joo Report
October 7, 20242 yr comment_737033 Hi Joo, Welcome aboard ! I wouldn't suggest going more than 14" wheels, but before doing that, there are a few things to consider. 1. Are the addition of larger wheels, purely for appearance aspects, or are you considering other upgrades to engine, gearbox, & diff, further down the track, as you advised the car is OEM. 2. If at sometime in the future you decide to upgrade the differential, you may find that these new wheels you are going to purchase are no longer useful. If you are purely wanting to fit it out, for appearance sake, then I would take it to your local tyre place, who invariably market/sell wheels also, & they will put it up on the hoist, & take some measurements, & advise, what is possible, & what is not, without "tubbing" the rear wheel arches, or other mechanical modifications. Lets know what you eventually decide. Cheers Banjo Edited October 7, 20242 yr by Banjo Report
October 7, 20242 yr comment_737034 Joo, if you click on this link, there are a lot of threads, from other KE20 owners, with suggestions as to what is; & what isn't possible, with wheel size upgrades on the KE-20 Wide Wheels on KE20 Cheers Banjo Report
October 8, 20242 yr Author comment_737039 Hey, Thank you for providing the link; I was able to find a great deal of information. The goal is to keep the car original and only update the wheels to something a bit more visually appealing. If I can find 4x110 bolt pattern wheels that are 5/6" wide, then there wouldn't be much else to do. It seems like 185/60 tires in the front and 205/60 in the back would fit without rubbing the fenders. I've checked a few places that offer blank wheels, but they all start at 15 inches. Unfortunately, no one in my area is willing to make custom versions of smaller wheels. Report
