Coyote Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 if I'm correct there is a plug connecting to the distrubitor with two wires one (+) and one (-) with a multimeter (if wires are not marked red/black) turn on your ign but not start motor and test both wires one will be pos(+) and other neg(-) so just tap into the neg wire and all should be sweet. however i might be wrong and sombody here will corect me :) Quote
Des Posted August 22, 2006 Author Report Posted August 22, 2006 yea i might go down to the auto elec tomorrow cause it says in the book if i connect the green wire to a positive power bye bye shift light.but i will be looking for the wires and see if ya right. :) Quote
Coyote Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 check both those wires before you hardwire anything cause if you do wite it to a positive well lets just say it would be interesting to watch however one of the two wires will be a (-)negitive, failing that you could allways go out and get a points dizzy and a coil and that will solve all your questions :) Quote
Des Posted August 23, 2006 Author Report Posted August 23, 2006 the auto elect wont look they are too busy.alright i have 2 wires coming out.1 goes threw the condenser the other is just a black wire that goes into the harness.which one.I'm guessing not the condensor one :) Quote
Coyote Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 as i said grab a multimeter or if you don't have one use a 12v test light (make sure engine is not running just have the ign on) one will light up the other wont, connect your green wire to the wire that dosnt light up that will be your negitive, and not too sure on the tacho you got but the last one i wired up with a shift light the shift light wired up to the back of the tacho itself but all depends on the tacho. tmac101 Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 (edited) when you say negitive it is only an acting negitive it is told when to become negitive the rest of the time it isnt apparnt which it is. it is called switching negitive.if your not really up with it take it to someone who knows cause it can be tricky bussiness. i work at an auto eleky's and they will only charge a small amount to sort you out so do that. good luck .
