Hey all, i have a KE55 which I'm getting for rego, i couldn't stand the ugly square headlights, grille and the hideous front bumper, so i got to work

 

The mess i started with, broken square grille 1 driving light, fugly front bar

 

Everthing off except for bumper.

 

Rolla-boy aka Geoff, helped me with the next part,

Yellow circles are the brackets that are needed to come off, red ones are where the adjusting screws go into (i went to supercheap and got some new clip thingys and new screws, the blue ones is what the spring goes onto.

 

Finished result Early KE55 front bumper (anyone got a rear one?) Early KE30 Grille and KE30 Lights.

You do realise you have a KE30 grill in that right?

Yeah i had it lying around off my other KE30 so i just chucked it on :P

I personally hate the KE55 bonnets, with that massive chrome piece...the square headlight ones had a small strip but still the high bonnet...

 

I painted a KE30 bonnet up when I did the square headlight to round headlight conversion...and used a KE30 grill....and bumper bars...and just so you know, there is a difference in the headlight holder/bracket for the round headlights between the KE30 and KE55...the KE30 ones are like an inch shorter, so the headlight sits in the guard more...and looks heaps better.

Yeah i'am using KE30 ones, i realised that they were sitting back a fair way, thanks for pointing that out to me, yeah i don't like the KE55 Bonnets how they have the big bulge at the front,

round headlights look alot better than the old suqare ones and the ke30 grill gives it a nice facelift too. wack the ke30 bonett on it aswell and it will be looking tops man :P

I love changing the late model KE55's to KE30 spec, as you get all the extra benefits of the later model KE55 (door trims that go right to the top, etc etc) and you get the cool sleeker look of the KE30 :P

 

That car has a rear sway bar too, unless someone has removed it

whats wrong with door trims not going all the way to the top?

 

interchanging anymore and you might as well cal it a ke5530 or something funny like that :P

I just prefer door trims that go all the way to the top, instead of having a scratched piece of cold metal (in winter) or hot metal (in summer) to rest your arm on.

 

All the hardtops had door trims that go to the top, be it KE35 or KE55

Lol i see, i'll get my bonnet off my old KE30 and throw it on, one thing i like about the KE55's is the door trims as well mine are blue with black carpet in the bottem of them i think it looks classy for its day :P

So were mine...and I ripped all that crappy blue off, and covered them in black carpet :P
