  1. so nobody really knows someone who could do it?
  2. Philbey: I'm in coburg but I'd be happy to drive out to ringwood if he can do it. If possible can you PM me his number or would you be able to ask him if it's not too much trouble. In the meantime I'll be looking for welding engineers I may already know of one fingers crossed! Jono.C: I don't have the equipment to do something like that and I'm a fair distance from tasmania haha
  3. Ok, before you guy's start flaming me I'd like to explain myself. I'd like to take my car to a few track days and learn how really drive a car sideways in a safe environment. I'm from the northern suburbs of melbourne and the car ( RT142 corona) will be pulled off rego in a few weeks. I know welded diff's are dodgy and break easily but I'm not about to go and spend big bucks on 2 ways etc at this stage on a first year apprentice wage. I've researched the internet and asked around for people who can actually weld a diff and no luck so would any of you guys know of somebody that can weld my diff in melbourne?
  4. the car revs pretty well it just idles pretty low. It's probably something else but I thought I'd give them injectors a clean and get some new leads before i try anything else. The motor has quite a few K's so I thought i may aswell clean them anyway to get rid of 27 years of gunk in the injectors
  5. My car's got 300+ km's on it, so I'd like to clean the injectors. I don't want to remove them and risk damaging them. I've read a lot about people putting different additives in the tank to help clean them. Just wondering what people on here have tried and results. Pro's and con's of going this route instead of pulling them out. thanks guys Jordan
  6. you guys were right, straight through! Porsche 997 infront of me got knocked back and I passed, he wasn't happy haha
  7. carlton on tuesday morning, but going for my P's the friday before so no car for the weekend
  8. i stood there arguing with the girl behind the counter for 5 mins about my vin number she thought it was wrong and that my mechanic, old rego papers, and my engine bay placards were all wrong! stood there telling her that the chassis number is the vin number for earlier cars. took 2 managers to clear it all up too lol!
  9. RWC is valid for 30 days, my appointment is on march 13 at vicroads where i will need to bring my car in to be inspected, my question is what can i expect them to look at in regards to my car. the car is completely stock except for a sony headunit
  10. I've been told i need togo through the Pits at Vicroads to get rego on my corona as i bought it unregistered. Just wondering if anyone who's been through this before could give me some hints at what they may look at just to help my chances of getting through. Passed RWC less than 2 weeks ago and already fixed all the rust (properly not just bog)
  11. progress has been slow between work and tafe but finally got the RWC done! Replaced bushes, discs, passenger inner rack end and few other little bits and pieces to make the mechanic happy. The front end is still knocking so that's next on my list. I'm going to make a little JDM style lower front lip at tafe from sheet metal and either matte black it or stone guard it just to see how it looks, if it looks shit I just won't use it. I'd like to to get a new head unit and some speakers in it too just need to sus out what i need and where i can put it. Just want run the speakers straight from my head unit don't want an amp. I've also included a picture of some piping i found at bunnings that I may use for a pipe from the airbox to an open air source, comes in 50, 65 and 100mm may just use the 65mm with some sort of filter.
  12. I've got 3 x 5Litre bottles of 20W50 sitting in my garage, you reckon just use that?
  13. @ForzaAE92 i've only owned the car for about 2 weeks and only driven it a few times so don't know how much oil it burns. @Philbey It's a 22R it's got no leaks. the front end is on jack stands at the moment doing the discs and few other things for RWC so i thought that i may aswell change the oil while it's jacked up
  14. I've done some research on the internet but would just like some clarification. My car has 310,000 km's i've read that the thicker the oil the better it is to make up for "play" in worn parts in the motor. I've read of people 10w30 but i've also rad about full synthetic 5w30 being better, what would you blokes recomend?
  15. @KE70dave: haha thats exactly what i was going to do, just couldn't decide on what diameter pipe to go for? 50mm, 65mm or 100... thought about just going with the 100mm pipe, cutting a hole on the bottom of the factory airbox, then cutting another hole into the metal into the wheel tub and routing it to the front of the car with some find mesh over the open (will keep the panel filter in the airbox tho - just get a 'high performance' one) does that sound good? would anybody know if 100mm is too big? and also if my efi will cope with the extra air?
