  1. Jesus man, I just procrastinated hard...

Just chilled all night in the uni comp lab looking on the net at cars and shit, instead of workin on the assignment thats due at midday.

Oh yeah guys, if you value your retinas, and don't want them seared by 12 continuous hours of CRT destruction, NEVER go to the top gear website...

    oh jesus I am fuxxored...

  2. I feel the call of the dark side...

I've gotta say that my fave out of the list is the black 20v rona down the bottom. That thing is overrated.

Thats the kind of car that makes me want to do something stupid, like take out a personal loan...

  3. I have to drive company because my current set of wheels is an overheating xe. Three speed auto for the lose.

But yeah, a while ago some crazy bogans smashed our fin. Luckily our manager that night was Turbo, an even crazier bogan, who went out to kick ass with an oven end (a metre long piece of stainless, for the uneducated), and the rest of the car remained unscathed.

And I find it far easier to slide in the dry; when it rains, front grip is equal to zero.

Oh yeah, and ours is a 1.3.

  4. Oh, and there's also the crushing flaw that I forgot to mention, mainly because months of subjection to its devilry has numbed me to the awesome evilness.

    Electric throttles suck.

When I first started to drive it, it was a stallfest. It's amazing how big the impact of a half second delay between pressing the accelerator and the engine revving is on the car's driveability for a noob. If you give the pedal a quick jab, your foot can be back off the pedal before the thing revs. I drove an n14 pulsar the other day, and nearly wet myself with joy upon redicovering the meaning of throttle response. Desensitization is a terrible thing.

When they were introduced on Commos a year or two ago, I remember a comment in a Motor magazine sidebar. The journalist inquired of an engineer how many throttle cable failures had been experienced since the VT's inception, to warrant the switch to drive by wire. "None that I'm aware of."

  5. Hey guys.

I'm interested in knowing if any of you nutters have piloted Echos or Yarisssss(whatever, the plural of Yaris), and what you think of them. Being a Domino's bitch, I am tasked with this torture on an almost nightly basis. The things I have learned are:

    FWD sucks

Aircon sucks...all of my power when the shitty compressor switches on at 5 grand in second.

Electric steering sucks harder than Thai ladyboys

Ditto autos (especially pointless bloody gated ones)

    ABS sucks

    Olympic Sprinter tyres suck

Giant Yaris doors 1 foot thick and 5 feet long suck

Ditto the crazy tree trunk A-pillars

    Central instruments suck

Digital fuel gauges suck ridiculously variable amounts

Echo manual shift quality sucks, along with its spongy clutch

Echos 'eye in the sky' seating position sucks

Mind drilling beep caused by leaving the lights on, or having the ignition on without putting on a seatbelt sucks

    Fuel cards WIN!!!!

  6. Hey kids, long time no post. Main reason being the rolla's death. Towards the end, water consumption was getting up around 40L per 100km. Hehe. Most of it was consumed in the engine, but quite a bit also wept out of the plug wells. The reason for its eventual DNF was a mixture of about 12to1 water to oil lubricating the engine.

But back in its halcyon days I had a slight fetish for recording fuel consumption. The absolute best I ever saw was 7.7 for one particular tank, dunno what was goin on there. But in my usual SAVAGE VEHICLE RAPING!!!!! pizza delivery mode 10.5 was the norm. Making a 1.2L motor pushing 900kg chew through more of the stuff than my mum did in a VS made me a bit sad.

  7. No digital imagery capabilities in my universe. Hence the non-existence of 781JCU photos. I can tell you though. No manifold with the 86 head, but where 33 head had plate with pipe for a hose to attach to on firewall end, 86 head had a plate. Both were small ports, I can tell you that. The thermostats were slightly different, the 33 one appeared less technical. Hope that helps in your quest for Kmotor knowledge

  8. And the new head, of indeterminate origin, is numbered 86. OMFG!!!!!!!!!!111111!!! hachi roku1!!!!one!

    Hehe.

The wreckers claim it's from a 3K, although i would never put it past them to lie straight to my face just to get me to buy the damned thing. The ports and valves and combution chambers do appear identical though. The only difference between them was in the hosing attachments at either end.

  9. Haha! Surely there are few greater joys than embarking on your first major mechanical excursion, only to return with success. 781JCU lives again! Bought the $85 head from the wreckers, bolted her on, and all was aight with the world. However, am yet to acquire a set of feeler gauges, so valve clearance is a bit suss. But she runs! And is no longer a Valvoline milkshake maker! And that is all that matters.

  10. Yeah, that was the conclusion. Is that something that can be fixed though??? It would seem like an awful lot of dicking around to try clean up and weld up any hole inside the head.

I've pretty much resigned myself to the wrath of the wreckers price tag.

Unless... Nick and co live round burpengary way, don't they? How rolla nuts are those guys? Do they have Kmotors around that they use as jackstands or what? Do they turbo the shit out of 4Ks just to watch them burn?

    Could they hook me up?
