18 November 2012 | Marques in the Park | Belconnen ACT
Hopefully my brother's got his 20v in the Ke36 by then!
Will have 2 weeks to do it, all he needs is a tailshaft haha.
As for me, I'm not going to bother bringing the z20 as it would be embarrassing turning up in a stock car.. ahaha, I'll be there though!

I'm Back, after like 3-4 months. I sold my 5k Ke55, and replaced it with a Z20 Soarer. The cars pretty nice, but I miss the rolla sometimes :(
I am taking offers for the soarer, and might be selling it. I might just drive around a crapper for awhile and save up for something really nice

Sweet!!!
A ke30 wagon going through ngunnawal yesterday arvo! Gave them thumbs up
That was me and my brother :D
I swear your car used to have square front lights? Looked very nice :)
-
Saw a yellow 4 door KE30/55 pulling onto coulter drive this arvo. It was a nice bright yellow aswell. I was about 15 cars infront
I wish that was me :( I need a carby.
There's a matte yellow one with matte black stripes..... ew

Welcome! Good to know there's some Ke20's in Canberra :D. I'm in the Gungahlin area just north of Belco, so if you see a bright-yellow corolla, or a Z20 Soarer, that's me.
First thing I would do is suspension. My car had rooted suspension and it was only 1981, so if you get worn bushes replaced, and the shocks changed over if they're tired, you can also get the leaves re-set and get king springs for the front, if you want her to sit nice.
Can't wait to see it!
Ben

Unfortunately my crapper will not be running by then. I still need to install the surge tank + facet pump and do the wiring, and then find a friggen matching throttle cable.
Other then that it's going well :/

The original auto is a direct bolt up and yes it will need some beefing up.
Awesome! My dad reckons it'll be around 3k to beef the auto, so It's a bit depressing being on $200 a week

Hello ladies and jellyfish,
I have been trying to find info on what gearbox's you can use for a Rwd 4AGTE setup, that can handle a large amount of power. Common knowlege suggest's I use a supra gearbox with the suiting bellhousing, but this will not suffice for my needs. As fun as manual gearbox's are, I am on the quest to see if there would be a strong auto option. I heard somewhere that the original auto is alright, but it would most definantly need re-building, and beefing up. Plus, would the original auto sill need a custom bellhousing to suit the Rwd application? Are there places that make custom bellhousings?

There is a couple of AE series lookalikes in GTA IV  Giving them a thrashing at the moment.
I think there called 'Futo's or something. They actually look a bit like an 86 which is cool when your running people down.
-
Damn! Well, the offers still there.

I'm looking at buying a shell purely for panels soon.
Do you want one with no doors/bonnet/boot etc?
Give you it for $200, virtually no rust, only a 5c on the chassis rail. Only bad thing is the drivers side rear guard is bogged to the shitter, because there was rust cut out. Let me know if your keen, because I'll probably be getting the shell in Feb.
Yes, 16 years old and 2 cars ftw

Day 56 of the car not running: I just can't take it anymore!! I want to finish this efi stuff so badly now! All I have to do is assemble the new fuel setup which arrives in the mail in the next 2 weeks and configure the dinosaur of a Microtech D4. Doesn't help that I leave on the 6th of January and I don't get back until the 23rd...
FML, I'll post some pics tomorrow of the supercharger setup, which is slowly getting there....
-
WOW. $165 for the rear chrome bumper and spare panels would be good haha.
tempted.. Already have 5 cars at the residence though..

Yep it's full on witch craft!!
I haven't seen any of the injection kits make power YET!
A mate used to do injection kits. The MOST they ever made with it was 350(ish)rwkw on a s/c ls1. Guy I'm using for my 5kte manifolds is making over 600rwkw with a GRA carby and an ecu controlling ignition.
Back to OT Ben you will need a blower cam for this puppy. Do you have one yet? Might be able to sort you out.
Stu.
I am in interest of a cam! :D

Since it's EFI, why not go with liquid injection LPG apparently LPG is awesome with boosted applications.
I'm interested...
Sounds cool :P

i'll probably get flamed for this but why try polishing a turd? 5k's were not made for making power, i mean look at the ports on all 4/5/7k's Why not just drop a 4agze in it and wind the boost up? whats the reliability going to be of a 5k @150rwkw thats had shit loads spent on it (for a k series motor) as apposed to a stock internal'd 4agze?
I get where your coming from, but this is how I worked out why I'm using a 5k
Compare the Pair:
Shipping price of the 4AGZE and gearbox - X amounts of 5K motors (Got mine with a gearbox for $150)
4AGZE price with gearbox = Full pro-spec rebuild of the 5K
Brakes and misc to fulfill engineering = dirty big turbo/supercharger efi setup
Welded mounts for engine and gear box properly done to engineering standard = 9 million 5k gearboxes or a built Holden trimatic with suited bellhousing and Hilux diff for the record breaking 11 second time you promised your 30 cats you would do
Requires a proper job or a loan to fund it - Currently on $150 a week
Done before - Nostalgic as a mofo and a personal choice of difference (Hipster?)
Power outputs so far:
4AGZE finally in car and engineered: 100rwkw
Dirty big Turbo/Supercharged 5K: 150+rwkw ;)

I would go I my car wasn't in a bajillion pieces

How's my old setup going man??? As I've said before that setup with the right cam should make around 110-115rwkw
On 12psi(it made 102 on 8.5psi on mine with a stock head) It does have it's little quirks but again if you need to know anything pm me or prank me and I'll call you back(it should make 12psi with the ports all plumbed in like I let you know in pm) I'd get that going first. Also that setup would benefit with a 50-100 shot of NOS at the strip(have you considered this option)
SC14 won't make much of a difference in top end HP over the SC12 you have. Boost is instant with the 14 where it creeps with the 12.
The eaton is a reasonable option but they are quite large.
Stu.
Hmmm, you always seem to give me a lot to think about hahaha, but It's good, I need to think through every option to acquire the best possible outcome. Might stay witht he 12 and upgrade to 14 when I get bored.
I'd get NOS but I don't wan't to feel like Brian O'Connor doing a Buck Twenny down the strip at 'Race Warz' But on a serious note, is NOS expensive?

That's a pretty big blower for a 1500 cc engine. Are you gonna do port work to the head? What efi setup will you use?
At the moment I have a 7-Ke manifold setup off Stu (kickin5k) that made 100+rwkw with the sc12 from what I remember. I'm going to get the head ported enough for good flow, but I don't want to turn the car into an exploding delorean by porting the head too much.
Maybe the first supecharged 150+rwkw?
Challenge accepted!! :D

Hello again,
I have decided to build a mofo 5k EFI setup that will hopefully backed by a fitted tri-matic to push my rust infected Ke55 into the sunset of the 11 second zone. But that is not my question. Seeing as I am doing a full rebuild with all the 'fruit', I am also deciding instead of doing a possibly way better turbo setup, to run a dirty supercharger. But, will the humble 5K be able to spin say, a 4th gen M90? Yes I have looked at the possibility of an SC14, but, I WANT MORE POWAHZ!
Anyway, I had a look at some specs and noticed that the M90 was
Length: 360mm/ width: 240mm/ height: 160mm/
As opposed to the SC14's size of
length: 311mm/ width: 148mm/ height: 254mm/
Now, I know I missed some crucial specifications in there , but, is this too big?
Has anyone else tried it?

Wow! thank you everyone for commenting, you guys have really helped me think in frantic times. I think I'll get a quote this Sunday, with a carby efi workshop and if its more than $1,100 (What I have :P) I'll just wait it off until I can a) afford it or b) want to do it myself. The only crap thing is I have been planning for this for 4 months now :( oh well, if it gets done, yay, if it doesn't, its just another twist in the epic journey of CARL THE COROLLA :P
Oh and, I'm happy with B's and C's for my exams, so I don't need to study much haha :P
-
Has anyone else had a car show or event they have wanted to have their car ready by? I am sooooo tense at the moment, and I haven't even considered the end of year exams in two weeks. I have to swap my 5k from carby to EFI, and install the sc12 setup. Sure, a skilled mechanic or even normal hobbiest could knock this over, but I am..... Useless (engine-wise). Plus I have to get the car tuned, so I have decided to pay someone else to do it. There is only one problem now, how long will they take? I'm hopefully putting the car in on Monday (23rd) and my car HAS to be ready for the 12th of November, for Marques in the Park. Should my car be ready for then?? Why am I asking a question with so many variables?? Will the questions end?!??!
HELP!
