Okay it's that time of year again here in Southern California! It's time for this years Toyotafest! I'm not entering any of my cars this year. I have been helping out a buddy of mine (who is also a co-worker) in doing a complete redo of his 82 Corolla. Paint is Mercedes-Benz silver (used up a gallon of it), Recaro seats, Carbon Fiber center console, Real Hayashi wheels, Legally swapped and tagged 4AGE motor (with C.A.R.B sticker), AMG Alcantara headliner and rear hat shelf (since I'm an AMG tech and Luis and I both turn wrenches for Mercedes-Benz), Diamond pattern rear inner wheel well covers, fully recarpeted interior, JDM bumpers, TOMS steering wheel, TRD shift knob, re-webbed factory seat belts, textured dash upper panel,Toda timing belt, Greedy oil filter relocation kit ,Iridium plugs, TRD spark plug, TRD engine support, Injen cold air intake, TRD thermostat, TRD radiator cap, KOYO racing radiator, TRD oil filter, Permacool16" electric fan, Permacool thermostat control, Goodridge Stainless Steel brake lines , Front strut bar, Tein camber plates, T3 custom strut casing, T3 RCA, TRD 8kg front spring, TRD 6kg rear spring, Tokico HTS shocks, T3 lateral bar, Prothane bushing kit, KOYO wheel bearings, Cusco rear bar, Auto meter gauges, Mitsuba horn, Battery relocation kit, SS battery box,AE86 Kouki gauge cluster conversion, Zenki LSD rearend, JDM front head light conversion, Pioneer sound system, GTS gas tank, etc, etc. The goal was to have a clean looking car and not stepping away to far from it's stock appearance. Believe it or not, this car is serving as his daily driver while he is rebuilding the motor of his SR5 Toyota Truck.... Since he is not a member of this message board He asked if I could post his ride...So here it is... -Big Mike Muniz

Here is my other TE27. The Orange car "L'L MANGO" is my daily driver, it's driven about 800-1,000 miles per week. It has been featured in the UK based magazine called Retro Cars modified classics (aug 2012 issue..it had side stripes back then). I also have a Green Trueno Sprinter that is my pride and joy! Restored to factory specifications. The only thing that is non factory is the TRD/TOSCO wheels (I will post photos of it on another day). Some of my friends call me "Mr TE27" since I have had about 25 of these cars in the span of about 20 years. Hope you guys like them. http://www.speedhunt...sei-spotlights/ http://rafu.com/news...-corolla-levin/

Okay, I'm trying to help a buddy locate a good front coil over conversion for his 1971 Corolla...He does not want to replace the stock strut tube which I believe is smaller that the SR5 buy about 5mm. He is also looking into using ground control front adjustable coil overs so that means he wants a shock that is a short stroke so that when he lowers his front end, the shocks would not bottom out. What would be a good spring rate for street use? I do know that the MR2 shocks are often used, but non SR5 had 45mm outside diameter front strut housing and in contrast the SR5 versions had 50mm housings. I need feedback from someone that has done a short stroke shock replacement on the non SR5 strut housing. Thanks,

Does anyone have a link to a site that shows what the coding means on the data plate (example: axle, transmission, paint etc..)?

anybody know the factory specs where to fender mirrors should be installed on a TE27/KE25? If I remember it correctly, it mounts directly after the second fender bolt (counting from the front of the vehicle). Thanks, Big Mike

A shot video of my drive to the "Early Rodders" meet here in Southern California... Driving my 1973 TE-27 Road Race/ Autocross car to the weekly Saturday morning meet of the "Early Rodders" in Montrose, Southern California. Most of the cars are high end Italian and German cars, and a few beautifully restored American classics. I just love the reaction of people when I drive this car in, no matter what car event it is... Enjoy, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NrdLHU22D0w

I'm not sure how big the classic Japanese scene is in the other states, But here in California it is HUGE! The main shows are "Toyotafest", "Japanese Classic Car Show", "Sevenstock" http://www.toyotaclub.org/toyotafest2010/mywebalbum/index.html http://www.toyotaclub.org/Toyotafest2009/mywebalbum/index.html http://www.japaneseclassiccarshow.com/gallery/gallery-top.htm http://sevenstock.org/?q=node/view/29 http://sevenstock.org/?q=node/view/30 http://sevenstock.org/?q=node/view/32 http://sevenstock.org/?q=node/view/34 http://sevenstock.org/?q=node/view/36 http://sevenstock.org/Photos/Sevenstock7/ http://www.picsbyalvaro.com/main.php?g2_itemId=7980

Stu, That is a fully restored 2000GT! There were other notable cars at the show. The single leaf is a progressive rate setup, It works superb! Weighs only 10lbs! I cannot recall where I bought the springs, I just bought parts a little bit at a time and once I got everything, I started working on the car. Here is the specs of my car: Big Mike Muniz 1973 Toyota TE-27 1973 TE-27 shipped from Japan back in 1988. The car was right hand drive at that time and had the original 2TG Engine, The vehicle was then converted to left hand drive and used several components from a 1974 TE-27 donor car to pass U.S. safety standards to comply with California registration during that time. The 73' bumpers were later re-installed, but I kept it left hand drive for Road Racing conditions (easier to shift gears with my right hand). Vehicle weight is 1,920lbs with driver/owner. The car has had several different engine transmission combos over the years, the stock 2TG was full race modified, then swapped for a turbo'd 3TC, a 4AGE, 20 valver, 3TGTE, 3SGTE, then switched over to a blow-through turbo/monster ported 13B (which bumped me up a race class against V8's and also was just spinning the tires), Then switched to the 12A which is perfect power to weight ratio. Engine & Transmission: * Dynoed at 264hp to the wheels...approx 300hp to the flywheel. * Mazda 12A full Bridgeport rotary engine that came out of the "Fastest West Coast 1/4 mile all motor 12A RX2". * Engine has all Racing Beat internals. * Racing Beat oil pan windage tray. * Engine and Transmission moved back 6” for better weight distribution. * Weber IDA 48mm carburetor bored out to 51mm and custom made jettings by Shawn Geers. * Mallory Comp 140 fuel pump. * Mallory Comp 140 fuel filter & an additional glass filter in engine compartment. * Mallory fuel pressure regulator. * Custom 1/2" fuel line. * Modified stock fuel tank (anti-splash foam installed inside). * NGK Race Spark Plugs R6725-115. * Modified distributor by Rotary Shack. * MSD 8.5mm red super conductor spark plug wires. * 2 Crane Cams HI-6R Ignition boxes. * 2 Crane Cams PS92 Ignition coils. * Glimmer Underdrive pulley system. * Tilton Double-Disc Clutch and "light" Flywheel assembly. * Mazda Turbo II 5 speed transmission with short shift kit. * Custom 2-pass radiator from Rotary Works. * Sard thermostat /for the street, by-pass blocked when racing. * 3 Electric radiator fan system. * Custom aluminum engine mount and transmission mount by Rotary Shack. * 3" Custom exhaust system. * Race Ready electronic exhaust cutout with "Megs" megaphone. * Racing Beat resonator and muffler * Racing Beat "Road Race" headers. * Quick cable power disconnect. Chassis: * TRD struts and springs form AE86 (front). * Single composite rear leaf springs * Hardened rear axle/suspension locator bolts. * Tokico Illumina 5-way adjustable rear shocks. * Cusco front adjustable camber plates. * Mazda Factory Race hardened driveshaft yoke. * Custom Aluminum driveshaft. * TRD 4:11 Limited-slip differential. * Hardened rear axles. * 9X13" TRD TOSCO alloy wheels. * Yokohama A-008R 205/60R13 tires. * Modified front brake calipers (board and larger piston). * Modified brake proportioning valve. * EBC "bluestuff" race brake pads. * Brembo front brake discs. * Electronic race transponder. Interior: * Vintage TRD race bucket seats. * TOM'S racing 4-point harness. * Custom carpeting and custom black headliner (by owner). * Aluminum & carbon fiber shift knob, E-brake handle, pedals, & steering wheel. * Grant removable steering wheel security kit. * Autometer gauges. * Autopower cage. * Computech Exhaust Gas Temperature Plus. * All new moldings and dashboard. This is an in car camera of me driving in my 1973 TE-27 Levin that has a full bridgeport engine in it. This was the 7th JCCS held yearly at Long Beach California. There were close to 400 pre 1975 Japanese cars in attendance and about 200 more in the parking lot that did not make the registration deadline. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ias2CPTbXUo -Big Mike

Hello, just found this site through my search for a 20B swap in a Corolla. How is the project coming along? any fitment issues like modifying the firewall? I'm thinking of installing a peripheral port 20B in my 1973 TE27 Levin. I currently have a monster port 13B with a T3/T4 blow through turbo system and absolutely love the sound of Ivan Mikac peripheral ported 20B in his Mazda RX-7 FC Rotary Sports Sedan. Here's a video of Ivans car then a video of my car... Thanks, Big Mike
