  3. Hey buddy, I'm running an AE92 myself. If your auto electrician said your car is all good (Professionally converted engine) The problem may just be the TVIS setting. if its from the 1988 Corolla FX-GT (like mine) you can control the idle using the screw to the right hand corner of the TVIS (actually on the TVIS block, a bit above the throttle spring) turning it in deeeper will lower the amount of air going in causing the rpm to come down as well as fuel consumption because the computer uses the afm or map sensor to decide how much air and fuel to mix. If it smokes however... just increase the voltage coming off the coil with an ignition booster, but keep in mind that the 4AGE with its wide valve angles will naturally idle high. You will know when the combustion rate is correct as a small amount of water or very little (unless no) smoke is coming out the exhaust. Mine is currently set to idle 2000RPM cold & it drops to 1100 5 minutes later (neutral) in drive the rpm drops to 900, don't worry unless its giving you too any driving trouble. I found that in older 16V 4AGE (~180-250k non rebuilt)warm idle at about 1300-1500rpm drips water out the exhaust, most of the time anyway; should give you about 10km to the litre at that setting. Lower rpms like mine put out about 12km/L Hope that helps. P.S if you turn the screw too tight your 4A will stall and randomly turn off lol.
