hey guys, I'm looking at this ke70 tomorrow and the ad said various rust spots, as its unregistered i would just like to know if anyone knows where are the spots to look for where rust can't be repaired or make it so the car can't be registered, thanks!

oh awesome haha where do get one of those twinky steering wheels? off any twin cam rolla? haha also another thing, i want to put a new head unit it but i noticed the stock one is part of the dash...do i bust out a jigsaw and go to town on that bad boy or what? is there an easier way? haha

yeah i did, i drove for like an hour and a half and the car didnt start haha wasnt too bad inside though

haha yeah cheers guys, i was wondering what other gearboxes could fit someone told me a a manual gearbox from an ae80 would fit but couldnt find anything on the net about it and thats a good idea with the 5k, what was the 5k originally in? and so no tilt steering? cause I'm apparantly pretty tall and my knee hits the wheel pretty bad haha i guess it something i could get used to but i figured seeing as i be all up in the dash anyway it couldnt be too much hard to install a steering colum with tilt adjust...ah well haha ill get on all that thanks again guys

oh and whats the deal with tilt adjust steering wheel do they just not have that? is there a way to install it? cheers

so I'm going after a ke70 its pretty nice but its auto, hopefully ill have it by tomorrow which means I'm going parts hunting tomorrow, its a 1.3 and i want to convert it to manual...can't seem to find many manual gearboxes around for one so could i get a list of compatible manual parts? and also, whats a cheap/ p plater friendly way to get a little more power out of it, as my driveway is a little steep and my current 1.6 hatchback rolla struggles a bit haha cheers

yeah ive seen that story before, that girls pretty lucky haha does she still have the car? I'm going to go see that auto one tomorrow or thursday and work out some stuff cheers again for your help ill post something here when it finally happens haha

oh and as far as how much bodywork...no welding but ive replaced some panels thats about it and mechanical...everything that doesnt involve a hoist haha

i saw that one, was very muchly considering it, with the manual conversion ive never done something that big before...would i need a hoist? i do like that one though I'm just worried if i buy an auto and spend the money, i wont be able to convert it and ill be stuck with an auto car haha i dunno do you think its possible to do it on my own? and safely? i mean i kinda know some stuff but I'm more then willing to learn as well but i don't really have anyone that can help me do it haha

so i found another ke70 thats unrego ed but has low k's and based on the pics looks ok they want 400 for it but i was just wondering how hard is it to rebuild a car back to rego ableness? haha and what do i need to pay specific attention to when looking at a car that i plan on doing this to? cheers again youre all awesome

yeah i thought 7kg was a bit much, i dunno its easier to say i wont pay more then 1500 for one than to actually get one especially in sydney cause everyone wants them i don't actually want to drift it i jsut really like the shape of them ive explored other options and as you said with the unrego-ed ones i was pretty keen to buy a shitter and restore it but its just too hard to get one to me on the northern beaches and then it would have to get a blue slip and go over the pits which as I'm told isnt very easy but yeah thanks for your advice I'm still not really sure what to do i just want one so badly as I'm sure you all understand haha

i figured an open diff would take either an icy road or some seriously will power to hold a decent slide haha but yeah i have been looking for a while and havent really found any around sydney, but yeah so if i got it for around 2 or under id be sweet? and with the auto to manual conversion isnt that a little hard? haha I'm willing to learn but yeah thanks for the replies i appreciate it

hey guys was just wondering as i am the biggest noob when it comes to these cars, whats a good price to pay for one? ive found one with rego til jan 2012 its an 1982 4k, 4 speed manual with 157 thousand on the clock has 7kg king springs in the back (not chopped) and new pedders struts/springs in the front 5kg (not chopped) it has an open diff too which as far as i know means it hasnt been drifted, well not very easily i guess...the ac works apparantly and has got no rust except some surface rust where paint chips are, like back quarters near back wheels says the dude, he wants 2800 for it...is that a fair price? and what should i be looking for? any help would be awesome as I'm seeing it tomorrow thanks guys

Ive been looking for a ke70 in sydney for a few months now and can't seem to find one thats in good nick, low k's manual and so on but i have found one thats pretty much overrated with 100 thou on the clock and the interior is immaculate and has 2 months rego but its auto,theyre only after 1400 and i absolutely hate auto cars so i was just wondering...is a auto to manual conversion expensive? what do i need to do it? and has anyone done it before that can give me some advice thanks :D
