  1. hey all havent posted coz my wife hasnt been doing too well with this prenancy and mybee looks that we may have the baby earlier than expected, so this now means that my deadline is out the window, will try for the end of the year but have to help the wife out for now... got alittle bit of work done when i could and will slowly post progress reports and pics. i have recieved my diff back from powdercoat and its reasembled and in the car, all except the axles which arent able to be resplined so now i have to search for late 80's possibly early 90's hilux 5 stud axles, if anyone can help if they have any the want to sell can u let me know as this too is holding me up. I have read on here about front hub conversions to 5 stud to use cressida hubs? Does anyone know what needs to be done to fit these or what have others done? i can't find the thread on this....
  2. yep when the baby comes it will be 2 kids under 17 months and our 14 month old daughter is a handfull now so when theres 2 theres definately gonna be no time, i do have some comitments coming up that will eat up my weekends and funds so providing the moneys still there I'm gunning for 8 weeks of working on it after work, if i don't make it well i know i tried with the little time i had.... may as well update now, i was working on my alloy airbox I'm making and hinging the lid for it, i also stiped the drums off the axles as they were seized on abit, and totally stripped the guts( shoes etc ) off one backing plate. i replaced the factory horns with new smaller motorbike horns which are still 110db horns and re located them once again, much happier with them now.
  3. hey all sorry about the delay but after work i work on the car and spend some time with the family and the days repeat so i have been busy and hadnt had time to upload pics but heres a few teasers, rest up at the end of the week. i have bought my intercooler and mounted it by modifing the radiator support pannel by cutting it away and then rebracing it with 6.5mm solid round bar around where i have cut each side, brackets have also been made but need to be welded once i figure out how I'm gonna mount the radiator. I also have bought my diff mounts can't remember if i meantioned it before, these have been final welded on (today) and have there side bracing done, i just have to smooth out the welds and grind away the old ones and the diff is off to powder coat, i have pulled the axles and centre out of my other diff that i was using the innards for the modified housing, it has 4.11 diff gears in it, once the drums are stripped from the axles they will be sent off to be shortened. I was gonna change the colour of the cars engine bay to the ford vixen red as its a bolder colour but being that I'm only gonna paint the bay i decided that toyotas AB colour coice would look nicer especially as its gonna be fresh, so i have purchased all the primer, hardner and paint so as soon as I'm ready and done there will be colour.... As ive meantioned in the start that i was trying to do it in the 3-4 months, well its getting coser to 2 months in the build now and I'm thinking i need at least another 2 but our baby is due in 10 weeks and trying to finalise stuff for the baby and the car is tuff, so i hope to haeit done or close to done in 8 weeks.... i hope, hanging to drive this beast. i have dummied up my front apron and grill seein the intecooler and how it fits and looks, sleeper.... the washer bottle relocated, also the horns, i started making my air box for my pod filter behind the headlight with extra metal cut out of the radiator support to get some air from behind the grill into the box which also has a peice bent to duct the air in. your feedback and comments keep me going guys so don't hesitate, definately more update pics at the end of the week.
  4. updates coming this week with pics, progressing slowly.
  5. just get the motor siting in position you want and tack your mounts to the crossmember and then take the cross member out if you like and weld it up and your done in the bay.
  6. yeh il wait til the motor goes in before paint to figure out the heater hoses but definatelly will be relocated, i do want the space behind so i can get the motor back as far as i can for better weight distribution.
  7. its originally an auto and gonna be auto as thats what my sr20 has behind it. I'm only painting the bay and where the holes are is where I'm stoping the paint so i wont weld them as i still might run that strip and where the top of the fire wall jions the the lower half isnt sean welded. the firewall mod was originally done by another member who told me that by doing it you can get the motor back just that little bit more and have clearence for the heater hoses as on the sr they come out the back of the motor and theres a little more room to play with. its also what will make mine different to some of the others and shows the effort I'm willing to go to.
  8. ok Mick, coz you asked nicley, lol heres my progress to now, got a few more welds to do then start grinding them down.
  9. been busy with time consuming spot welding the bay, its now fully seam welded, holes filled except 4 more that i have to decide on yet and firewall semi-recesed/smoothed, some finshing touches with the welder and then ti gind them down, will post pic wen done and in primer.
  10. At the moment i want to get everything in, mounted and running, as i don't have alot to spend atm as my wife and i are expecting another child in 3 months so maybee down the track when i start modifing the sr20 for more power, etc. deffinately would fit though...
  11. hey all progress so far is the whole bay has been paint striped and take back to clean bare metal, i've started to seam weld the bay and fill in any unecessary holes. will post pics once i have completed this.
  12. here are some pics, both mounts removed from subframe today, will need to do some grinding and welding in it before its cleaned up properly, will start welding up unwanted holes in the bay this week also.
  13. Hey all, progress so far. I dropped the fuel from the tank so I couldn't do any grinding earlier on in the week until it was all clear but i further stripped the car of its complete dash and front gaurds and removed about 2 kg of dirt in the box section where the gaurds bolt up too. I also removed the standard diff and went to pick-a-part and removed a hilux diff to use in the car, i have a narrower hilux hosing already but i needed a centre and axles. Also removed both engine mounts from the subframe and started removing the other bracketry thats apart of the mounts on the drivers side. will get some more pics up soon.
  14. no worries dude, you'll get to see it in person and whats been done since the pics.....
  15. Thanks dude, I set my self a goal for the day in what to achieve and do it. P.S. I got get it done quick as my wife and i are expecting our 2nd child end of October, and once that happens it will come to a stop as i will need to help out the wife a lot more....lol Although i may be doing it quickly, quality wont be sacraficed. stay tuned everyone.....
  16. Hey all this is my first "old school" corolla ive owned but have always like the old ke's but never came around to getting one until now as its something different to me and i thought now's the best time to start with something fresh. My ke30 is a 1978 model sedan(auto with factory A/C, 77,000klms), its a 1 original owner most of its life until recently. I got it from a guy who bought it from the original owner who was gonna restore it but changed his mind and sold it. Now This is where i step into the picture, I was looking to do a engine conversion on my S15 200SX and will have everything from this car mechanically left aside from it so when i found this corolla it all made sence, SR20 + KE30 = AWSOME FUN..... So this is my build thread on this car, i have owned the car since july 1st 2011, and have since spoken to a few forum members regarding there similar conversions. My build objective is to have the car to mimic the original look of the car on the outside, (excluding bigger wheels to allow for bigger brakes) and to have the SR20DET auto in place of the old 3k motor. I will try to have weekly updates with progress pics, I have been working on the car atleast an hour or two a night after work, as I'm giving my self 3-6 months to have it complete...... Any positive feedback is welcome, hope you all enjoy my build thread. This is my progress in the past 10 days of owning the car.(sorry bout some of the pics, Iphone shit photos).
  17. hey Marty, thanks heaps, was talking to mick last night who was telling me about your conversion and giving me a few pointers. will definately be seeking your advice, thanks again. :y:
  18. thanks dude, will look at splicing the tunnel and add widening strips, might have to get the motor in before i start the engine mounts.
  19. :hmm: also want to run standard gearbox mount but modify it to adapt to the s15 box.
  20. here is one of it as i got it less than a week ago and one as of last night, il be starting a build thread this week sometime.
  21. Hey all I'm putting a sr20 into my ke30 and was wondering if anyone here who has done it had to cut the tunnel, or modify it or the firewall in anyway to make it fit with clearances. Also what did you do for engine mounts and gearbox mounts, did you modify existing or make new ones, etc. If it helps its a standard auto ke30 body with a sr20 auto going in. any info would be great.
  22. hey all I'm new to the corolla scene but have been interested owning one for years and now i do, i have a ke30 sedan that I'm putting a sr20 into as a fun cruser/drag weapon,

look forward to starting a post on my build and everyone tips on my car.

    cheers steve.
