okay so no compression test as yet. (My mechanic said that i should replace the spark plug seals and rocker cover gasket) I was having a nosy at my spark plugs and found this: i assume that they are meant to seal at the bottom of the plug, but this is from cylinder 1 and the other 3 are not much better. i will replace these and the seals around them and see if that makes a difference to the oil loss. then back to the compression.

Over a 200km trip I lost about 3-4 ml of oil acording to the dipstick.

for kms to oil. unknown. will do a test. i will get a compression test done in the next week and give an update from there. with the jump in rpm. i can hear it in the engine. it sounds like it cuts out for a split second.

OK. so to update. burning a fair amount of oil at the moment. no white smoke, no bubbles in radiator. had a read online. could it be the PCV? or a piston seal? what would be the signs of this? unrelated note. Rarely while I'm driving the car will jump from say 3000rpm to 4000rpm for a split second (according to my taco).

Hi, so my steering column has been loose for a while and i have decided to fix it. How do you tighten the bolt with no head? and what side (both length and diameter) is the bolt so i can find a similar one to replace it?

so had a look at it. no bubbles, i watched it for a good 2 minutes and the coolant was still touching the cap of the rad. + it starts fine. in saying that. there was no white smoke this morning.

So I recently noticed that my 4k is producing white smoke when I start it up and sometimes when I rev it when its warm. Unsure if just needs a good service or somthing is actually wrong with it.

wow awesome! I've been digging around trademe (amazon for kiwis), nothing. so TE was the upgrade from KE and some how way less common? It would make a cool preformace upgrade from a 4k. (if you could find a complete one gearbox and all) without going 4age.

are T series engines any good compared to K series? and as common?

What is the difference between TE3x and KE3x?

Alright! filters are finally here!!! I'm trying to mount them on my carb but having some issues as it appears that the base of the filter is exactly the same size as the top of the carb. suggestions?

strange. In saying that, home kill and wild meat tastes different from supermarket/butcher. guess animals really are what they eat or something to that effect

weird about the whole meat thing, any idea why? good to hear about the corollas. wish there where more over here or at least maybe cheeper than what they are.

Thanks heaps. I was missing a few parts of the of the linkage. I just rebuilt it out of hobby shop parts. re-drilled some holes. do you want some better shots of my linkage so you can rebuild yours? i can give you mesurements and everything as i have at least one origional of each lnkage part. one more thing. with the ramflo filters. how do they attach to the top of the carby. do they just sit there or is there a connecting part between?

So I finally got a fine day and have just had a look at the carb that is in the KE30. it is identical. so i have two 4k carbs. now for the filters.
