  1. I suppose, I just figured cause I'm getting a free diff that it couldn't hurt. Didn't really think about the fact that ill need a tailshaft to suit. Just isn't worth it.
  2. Cheers guys, yeah I've already got a place that will do diffs/axle shortening. We don't really have much in the way of drag racing in adelaide at the moment. I work with a few people who have had tubs done but never done it themselves. At the moment I was just gonna mount a stock diff so the car can be transported for paint/storage etc and I was thinking about hooking it up for shits and giggles.
  3. yeah i keep reading about hilux diffs, seems the go. which particular model is it that is the commonly used diff? i was thinking about using a old tonner diff.
  4. I know this, I've got 2 boilermakers on hand to help with the majority of it. I did a general engineers course several years ago so I know I can weld. Its just a matter of following directions properly. Its not something that's happening overnight, nor do I plan on rushing anything. I've been looking into minitrucks and how they set up their rears. I've got a rolla diff coming for free hence the questions, I wasn't sure if a mini spool+billet axles would be enough to handle 400max hp.
  5. Post what pics? One cut out inner guard? Its pretty clear I've never tackled anything of this magnitude. That's why I'm asking questions
  6. i figured billet axles and a spool would be able to cope. ive never done anything to a corolla before, usually its a commonwhore which makes it easy. plus ive never worked with leaf springs. also, the car has no diff in it what so ever, I'm in the process of trying to tub the car and I'm trying to figure out how to move the chassis.
  7. well, the plan is to brace the diff. add a mini spool+billet axles and run it behind a 383 stroker. I'm in the process of tubbing my car and was thinking about chucking in a stock welded diff to see how long until i can detonate the axles. plus atm its on a dolly and can't get to the paintshop. does the ke10 diff physically mount to the car the same?
  8. was wondering whats the shortest diff i will find as far as stock rolla items. and would most models bolt straight up into a ke36 pano?
  9. I'm going tubs purely to fit 20xsomething wide on there so I look the goods when I go into bigger competitions like gazzanats and shit. Plus I like the look of skid cars with stockies several inches inside the guard.
  10. i reckon I'm just gonna save up and get billet axles for a 10 bolt for mine, but i reckon just about any v8 diff will be the goods. shit, theres been some 9" around lately for real cheap aswell also, don't waste your time chuckin a carb on a 304. its a pain in the arse and not worth it. just put efi heads on a 308.
  11. paint looks dope, ive gotta finish it. my family is giving me shit saying i wont. ive got the bloke who did all the work on my statesman giving me a hand aswell. i found a shop thats gonna paint it for 400 bucks, but ive gotta go in and give him a hand every day so I'm stoked. ive got a week to do tubs before I'm sending it in there. ive got the upper hand on you though, i earn enough money to just pay people to do everything haha
  12. i wanna see the video haha.
  13. yeah boi, ive got a 400 dollar 350 coming asap. i wanna see you finish this sam haha.
  14. I'm trying to write on a phone so probs nothing I write makes sense haha, ill speak to you saturday as I know sweet f all about leaf setups.
  15. This things not gonna be driving under its own power for quite a while and I'm gonna have plenty of time to sort out my problems, rediculously low cars is sorta my trademark as most my cars have LOW247 plates at some point. Being that the plan is a cammed small block chev (long motor gets picked up in about a hour hopefully) I'm going to be trial and error as for as diff/suspension set ups for quite a while so I may very well grab those leafs
