can someone tell me what people mean by using the word BUMP?

Threads are sorted by how recent the latest post in a thread is. Adding a new post "bumps" it up to the top of the list, so people will post the actual word "bump" if they want to get their thread noticed again, especially in For Sale threads. There are rules about how often you can bump a thread though
