  1. these are the munroes front inserts i used ,not the best i know but this was a tidy up on a budget !!!!still I'm happy with how they work and fittment was reasonable.......
  2. compare the new springs uncut to the old ..........
  3. ok well this car is nearly finished!!!!!well ost of its done now and i have to say considering how the car looked when i got it just over a month ago i have to say it looks a hell of a lot better now!!!!!and I'm alot happier to drive it too, so the last few days i have been looking at lowering my car , since ive never had a car with leaf springs in the back i was a bit concerded on how this was going to go also the front springs , i wasnt sure how it would sit ,but its turned out ok ,so heres what i done.... first i wanted to lower the car 3 inches at the front, which i could have done but it turned out i didnt really need to go that low, so for the front of the car a bought munroe gt gas inserts and a set of super low lovel springs ,now the lovells were supose to lower the car at least 2 inches, but it didnt!!!!!!! was quite anoyed at that ,because the guy who sold them siad it would and also the lovells web site said it would also ,as it ended up the lovells lower the car just under 40 mm,not being happy with that i had to cut a small part off started with 1 coil and then ended up taken another 1\2 coil off, the springs are slightly loose but nothing to extreme, the gas inserts fitted well and made the suspenion all nice and stiff,so i was happy with that , now if you look at previous photos you can see the guard clearance it was a little over 3 inchs it now sits at about 1 and a 1/4 inchs,at the front, its not super low or anything like that but when you compare to how it was it looks a hell of alot better!!!!!!!!!!!!! now with the rear i followed rolla boys instructions but in stead of taken 2 leafs and fliping them i just did 1,i have a fair bit of weight in the boot with the sub box and crap so i leaft it at one leaf, did exactly as rolla boy had done amd wola it worked very well ,i was pleased :) :y: :D :y: so the back was sitting at a little over 2 and 1/2 inches away from the tyre now its about 1 and a 1/4 away and its all very much level from front to back :y: the last 2 days were hard out rolling around on the ground under the car for hours and hours after a hell week at work!!! but its all good ,been driving the car around and its great ,very firm suspension steering is still smooth and also theres no guard rubing or wierd noises so thats gota be good !!!!! I'm still waiting for a nice sunny day to get some nice photos as its raining and crap down here in melbourne but ill post up a couple of pics /..................
  4. ok I'm back shortly ill post up a bit more info and pics, done a bit more this week end hopefully you will like, and rolla boy big ups for the info and for posting your lowering was great help ,pics soon mate :) :y: :D :y: :y: :y:
  5. also have a look at my ke55 sedan its in the rides and projects under box on wheels, see what you think ??
  6. you could use paint thats what i use ,just open it with paint then select all in the edit menu and then grab the pic at the right hand bottom coner and drag it up to the left top corner then click on the white part of the screen and grab the same coner as before and drag it up to the coner of the pic, this will reduce the size do this a few times depending on your pic sizes then save as what ever and post up the resized pics, give it a try !!!! :)
  7. can't see the pics man can you fix them????
  8. yeah i thought as much ,I'm really worried about how much there worth after i cut them but I'm more worried that i might cut too much off making them use less :)
  9. well heres the goodies i hope to use if they all fit properly............ ive measured the front springs and they are 11 and 1/2 inches in height, hope these are gona actualy lower the car a little ,don't really want to hack these up too much ,just spent a f@$k load of cash ,not to keen to have to fork out for more!!!!....
  10. yeah i think that would be sweet,i have 2 and a 1/4 inches of guard clearance at the rear was hoping that if i flip one leaf it would go down about 1.5 -2 inches does this sound about right to you rolla boy???I'm only guessing cause ive never fliped leafs before so i have no idea how much change theres gona be if i do just one leaf????
  11. well i managed to pick up some shocks today.front and rear munroe gt gas,so hopefully they will go in this weekend ,i think theres some left on ebay if anyone is interested, ill post pics of goodies soon , i think I'm going to have a go at cutting the springs and seeing how they fit, still not to sure how to do the rears ,as the back is a bit lower now with the weight of the sub etc, so i may just try fliping one leaf ,it only has to go down 2 inches in the back, does any one no how far down fliping one leaf in the rear goes???in inches would be good.......
  12. that looks sweet as!!!! this is pretty much how i want myne to sit, hmmmmmm chop chop i guess this could be an option then ,
  13. ok so if i did cut my springs and then got the shocks shortened then this would be semi safe ???is this right???? hay rolla boy you cut your springs in half ,how much did that lower the car,and do the springs still seat propely????
  14. hay thanks mate ,the trims were actualy really easy to do, basicly all you need is a big roll of the material you want to use and some backing foam and some quick grip glue, what i did was moved the old trim from the wood panel ,put the panel on to the material traced around it,hten cut it out with a few inches of over hang, the cut out the foam to the same size of the wood and glued the foam down first this gives it a very soft spongy look and feel , then place the panel on the piece of cut out material glue all the bits of over hang and all around the edges of the trimwaited 20 minutes for the glue to dry then folded up the over hang and pressed it down ,it pretty much drys instantly, then you cut the holes for the door handle window winder etc and put the window seal back on and your done!!!!!!!!!its very easy takes a bit of time but I'm sure you could do it if you wanted to,it cost me like 100 bucks for enuf materials to do the entire car!!!! that is 2 front door panel 2 rear door panels ,the parcel shelf the gas tank cover, the sub box,and the amp holder and the tail light cover!!!!!! so all in all a full retrimed car for 100 bucks plus a few hours of your time!!!! have a go!!, i was almost thinking of getting a second hand set and doing it again and selling them on here as everyone seems to like them so much!!! but yeah I'm very busy at the moment so maybe later on,if you find out any solid info on lowering your car let me know!!!! nice and tidy your car too good stuff!!!!! go the rollas. :lolcry:
  15. see pic guard clearance 3 inches yuk :) please advice any one !!!!!! on lowering with out to my dodgy stuff!!
  16. ok hi there peoples i have a question for yous in the know, i have a ke55 sedan that i want to lower 3 inches at the front, i was planing on this in the weekend so urgent advice would be helpful!!! ive searched the threads but can't find any solid info, i have a set of superlow lovell springs that are supose to lower the car 2 inches (supose too) not possitive on that , now can any one give me advice on lower the front not rear on a ke55 pics would be great, i was thinking that i could cut a small amount off the lovel springs to give me the 3 inchs i need but not sure if this is a safe option ,would apreciate any advie ideas or mods to help thanks evil betty box on wheels
  17. ok well ive done a quick measure up and i want to lower the car , at 3 inchs at the front and 2 inchs at the back , now aparently the lovel springs i have lower the car 2 inchs at the front so how do i get the extra 1 inch lower that i want to go??? cutting the spring a small amount might have to be the option?????
  18. exactly, myne were custom drilled and fit well, i think they look nice ,i really wasnt to keen on getting an old set of hot wires or similar old style wheel so this is what ive ended up with . evilbetty
  19. heres a better one front half again imput for lowering needed please!!!
  20. that was the back and now heres the front, the guard clearance is huge so I'm not sure how I'm going to get on with lowering and what dramas i will face there but hopefully i can work something out????? i also have a set of super low lovel front springs that ill be trying ,does any know how much these springs lower a corolla??????I'm told its 2 inches but i don't think aftermarket springs really go as low as they say,has any seen a corolla lowered on lovels before???? i may have to go the angle grinder!!!!! not that keen on doing it too dodgy as the rest of the car is reasonably good ,don't know how safe it would be with them cut?????????? also the other way around it would be to cut them heat them up and straighten then so they sit in the mounts properly but even if i do this I'm asuming that they will still be loose as all hell????????? has any one done a corolla like myne with cut springs and then shortened the shocks to keep the springs in place better????? i was really hoping to have a go this week end but i may need a bit more info so if any one can suggest a safe ish way of doing the ke55 i would appreciate it ,so all input welcom........ any way heres the front ...........
  21. well another update ,i wasnt happy with the size of the front tyres they were 205s but they stuck out to far and since on lowering the car i didnt want any dramas so i had them changed for 195s they fit under alot better, got some more pics but there still blurry ill have to wait till i can get some in the day time.....
  22. another.....
  23. Hay there peoples check it out !!!!! pretty stoked today :) mananged to get some wheels on the box,so now i can truley say that it is a box on wheels!!!!!hahaha now as most of you should now when finding wheels for theses old corollas there isnt exactly a huge range to choose from , bascily i just wanted something that looked nice clean with a little bit of style ??? so i choose these wheels there called siraco 2 made by speedy wheels australia, size isnt huge but 15 " i think looks ok got a sweet deal on the tyres tho 205/50/15 which isnt exactly a popular size in tyre apparently, but there bridgestone potenzas, supose to be a very good tyre ,so pretty stoked about that . probably in the weekend ill get a few better shots these are a bit blurry, but gives you a general idea i think, what do you guys think???
  24. cheers teddy ,yeah the corolla is getting done reasonably quickly considering the last car i had i spent 2 years on,i didnt really want to spend that long on this one !!!! so the general idea was to get it tidy and clean looking etc so i can drive it ,ive had the car for just over a month now and the basics are allready nearly done!!!!! RESPRAY INTERIOR ALARM STEREO yeah so thats your basics i guess, got a few more things coming up to finish it up tho, needs wheels badly the old standard biscuits arnt to nice looking, and the ride hight too so will have to be lowered a bit ,it feels like I'm driving a truck!!! ahhaha oh well nothing a bit of spring work wont fix, also i have to finish the interior the last thing i have to do is make up a car seat cover ,now thats gona test me i think, another is there is a noise coming from the left rear wheel area i think it could be a wheel bearing but I'm not sure hopefully next week end ill get the chance to have alook, hope fully its not too serious???????well keep watching should have a few updates next week end ,
  25. well actualy dan i was thinking the similar thing were as i was going to put sumthng in there to hold the jack and the jack handle but that will be later on when i can be f@$ked ,cheers for the comments , i was also thinking of puting a light in there somewhere due tothe fact there isnt one!!! so that could be another little mission to do? but for the moment I'm reasonably happy with how things have turned out . thanks evil betty
