  1. I tried all in one go first. And it was certainly loose, and would come 15 or 20mm forwards before stopping. It felt like and I assumed (perhaps wrongly) that this was the cables preventing me from pulling it any further. I had a ke10 and a ke55 before this car, and those clusters came out all in one go, so I assummed this would be the same. However, for some reason it does not want to slide out far enough for me to disconnect the cables. But if you are sure there is enough length in the cables to pull out the unit as a whole, I will have another crack. Thanks again.
  2. Thanks Subaru_kid, there must be something I am missing, because I removed all visible screws. I removed the ones holding the clear plastic to the black plastic surround and the ones holding the black plastic surround to the white support/backing plastic. The right hand side of the dash (i.e. from the fuel gauge to the right) seemed like it would behave as you suggested. However, the left hand side (the area with the clock, voltimeter and oil pressure guage) was still held firmly together by something? At the base of the LHS there are 3 holes in the clear plastic and the black plastic surround has three nubbins that sit insite the holes. The ends of the black plastic where rounded, forming a sort of rivet like connection. I could try cutting/grinding away these rounded ends? But there also seemed to be something else holding it all in place? Hmm, I shoud have taken some photos when I had it all apart. I guess that it wiill be a job for my mechanic or an auto elec, for there where no more screws to remove and I don't want to break it. Thanks for your reply. any further insight regarding the SX dash cluster would be appreciated. Justin.
  3. Hi all, I spent a significant amount of time last weekend trying to replace some dash lights that have blown. I could not work out how to change them. So I am in need of assistance. I removed all parts of the dash surrounding the instrument cluster, so the screws holding it together and in place where exposed. I attempted to take the dash apart, first trying to remove the instrument cluster as a whole, but I could not unplug the cables attached to the rear, thus prevented me from removing the unit as a whole. Second, I tried to remove the clear face, followed by the black plastic moulding. This looked like it would be more successful. In fact, I think it it wasn't the SX cluster this would have worked. That is, after removing all screws, the clear cover & black plastic could be pulled out a little on the right hand side of the cluster. Yet the left hand side, where the clock, oil pressure and voltimeter are wasn't going anywhere. Can anyone provide any tips on how to remove the sx cluster? I have searched and have found nothing enlightening. Also, what globe will I require? And quanitity? The lights are out on the right hand side, i.e the temp gauge, and the tacho from about 4000rpm are not lit up. I guess one or two globes are blown? Thanks in advance for your help. Hopefully someone can save me. Justin.
