I have two more weeks of school for summer. Whenever that is finished, I'll buy the sr5 if it's still for sale. Just to give me more time to think about it. It will be my first project that will be my own so it is a big step in my life haha. Do you guys know anything about megasquirt? I heard you have to make your own cps or something like that. And is there anyway to avoid coil on plug ignition? Id rather use dizzy just because I'm more familiar with that type. Thanks.

Thanks for the replies guys. LittleRedSpirit whenever I made it, it said it was already in use. Weird. Maybe my fault haha but I think I will go 3tc efi. Something you guys should definitely check out is diyefi.org . It's all about pretty much making your own efi. Pretty fascinating stuff. However I think I will still probably go megasquirt just in case I decide to turbo down the line because I don't think some of the other programs will be able to support turbos.

I live in Pennsylvania but I saw a build thread and the guy said they lined up. However, he did say that he would need to make a simple bracket. On top of that the guy said that the r154 tranny lines up with the te72 shifter hole but the tunnel is obviously too small. Jordanrolla ive heard that the 3tc can put down some impressive numbers. I'm also interested in the efi conversion because I go to school for engineering and that would be a pretty cool senior project, even if I do it 2 years early haha. I just need some info to get me started. Also, Idk where your from but a rwd ca18de is pretty much non existent around here. I couldnt find an s12 to save my life.

Hi I'm new to the forum...well not really I just forgot my old username. Anyway I found a super rare te72 sportback with a blown 3tc for $400! I'm looking for an engine swap (or alternative ill get to that in a minute) for it. I'm not looking for anything too hard as I don't have a welder or anything special. So my ive narrowed it down to these: 1.) 1jzge fairly cheap, from what I heard the motor mounts line up with crossmember of the te72 2.) 2jzge same deal as above 3.) 7mge seems like a lot more fab involved however Ive seen more done than the 1/2 j. Cheap, reliable (with good gaskets) 4.) 4age fairly easy, cheap, unoriginal. Now for the alternative... Lately Ive been fascinated with an efi 3tc. Ive seen it done but there doesnt seem to be any good write ups about it. I understand I could get 3te (jdm fi variant) parts but they would be really hard to find and might get too expensive. Ive heard of swapping different heads that have efi with the harnesses,ecu, etc. but I'm not sure what would fit. If you guys could give me your input on what would be best in your opinion and any info on any of these swaps especially the efi conversion I would appreciate it!
