2015 Victorian Motorkhana Championship

Drums. Would it really make the difference? Usually whenever I receive advice, it amounts to nothing. Adding a hydraulic brake seems reliable and minimal long term fuss. -

Just posting cos I haven't for a while. A couple of weeks out from the first round, and I still haven't been able to put in a hydraulic brake yet. I tried to start it last week, but the battery is flat. Finally bought a pair of jumper leads on Friday. There's not much you can really do, isn't there? -

Just found out the Australian Motorkhana and Khanacross c'ships are being held on the same weekend! What's up with that? I would've liked to have competed in both. Very annoying. -

That's an option. Festiva would go good. A bloke who ran VMC in F the last few years is going to run one in A this year. I think he runs it in G5 and has done pretty well in it. I'm kind of set on a Swift if I do get up in C though. -

It's easy to say, but it's just not how I go about it. Otherwise I'd probably be interested in another hobby. But we'll see what happens as the year progresses. On another note. Just for my own amusement, I had look at what cars were around if I did compete in A. Looking for something that is not normally seen in VMC and/or really cheap. Initially, would've looked for a Mirage But then had a look at a Ka, Sirion, Barina.. The best I could find were a Charade and Festiva for $1000<. With further thought, I'd have gone with a 90s Swift. But good luck finding one of them for $2500< -

A far as driving smarter is concerned, I've got not idea. Despite doing it a year. I am not going to pretend for a second that I'm even decent despite the results. In theory, I know that motorkhana is one of those disciplines that don't enable you to buy huge advantages in a car. In theory, I know I can become good, but it's not going to be done through experience. That's just how I roll. It was like that with cricket, it's like that with anything for me. I just need to find "the knack" of driving motorkhanas, if you get what I mean? In a way, I can't have fun doing it. I like doing it, I like being able to compete in motorsport. But unless I knew I was really good and could achieve something, then it's not "fun". Then knowing this flog has joined C, it just diminishes the fun even further. I'm only in C, because that is what the car was eligible for. I bought the Laser to compete in autocross. It was a cheap option to learn how to drive hard like in rallying (2l fwd cars are what they use in ARC), before I realised I couldn't afford a trailer and a tow bar for my Camry. I didn't want to risk driving to the meeting then damaging the car. But this bloke has now cherry picked C, so his presence will ruin it for me no matter what. As I kind of said before. Had I "won" a class due to being the only regular competitor, or 1 of 2 regulars. I'd have taken it for the first year. But then I'd have seen the pointlessness of it and moved to A. But this dud is doing the reverse. -

Controversy Corner. Consider that I did finish 2nd in Class C and Novice in 2014. The 2014 Novice winner was 5th in Class A. carbonboy was the 2013 Novice winner and 7th in A. Reading the other threads, carbonboy had some issues that had stopped him competing. It is then questionable whether he has the excess money to put into his car. carbonboy has just stated that his aim is to get top 3 in A for 2015. Considering his situation, his form in 13 and the stiff competition in A. It's a reasonable goal, but a challenging one. It is not a guaranteed outcome. It is a respectable attitude and goal, and we wish him the best. I'm not going to name the 2014 Novice winner. We never spoke throughout the year. I don't know how many motorkhana competitors read these threads. I may look like a flog, but I don't care. So let's compare attitudes of the Novice winners. Consider. A averaged 15 entries and C just 6. The 14 Novice winner bought a standard KC Laser. Didn't like the "performance" of it after a couple of rounds. So then got a TX3 model of those Lasers. Later in the year, I found out this bloke spent heaps on his car, rally tyres and other stuff (I spent nothing). Winning Novice and 5th in A, I'd say is a pretty good year. With that experience, it's reasonable to think he'd improve and challenge for a top 3 spot (like carbonboy), maybe even challenge for the overall win. Consider. Apparently, I had a chance to win C, if the leader (Andrew) hadn't turned up. Had I actually won it. I'd have then gone and bought a car to compete in A. So what does the Novice winner say in presentation night? He says he going to go in C next year! I just rolled my eyes when I heard. **** attitude. Pathetic! Not only does he spend more than most guys already, but he'll using a TX3 turbo! (I compete in a standard KH Laser. Don't know if I should admit that here?) He's realised he's no chance of winning A. He's seen that I was 2nd to him in Novice, seen that I was second in C. So has raised the white flag on succeeding in A and gone "I COULD BECOME THE CLASS C CHAMPION!" I'm unimpressed. An overrated "competitor". Trophy Hunter. I don't know how results will go next year. But regardless, I guarantee it'll be impossible for me to avoid some sledging before the end of the season, that it'd even make an Australian/Indian cricket player say I should ease up. Tbh, I'm surprised he hadn't gone and bought a Williams FW14B to compete in motorkhana. So yeah. I'm letting you know in advance what we have to look forward itt in 2015. HAPPY NEW YEAR! -

I know AMC doesn't count for VMC points. There's 11 VMC rounds +AMC. -

Just received a reply about my query about points qualification. 9 rounds of the 11 will count. So that means a couple of years ago, they had 9 and 7 would count. Now they're asking to do what was a full season a couple of years ago for maximum points. Having gone over various calendar. I was pretty lucky this year that all rounds coincided on weekends that were free of what I want to do on others. Going to VSCRC and Vic Shannons Nationals rounds. This year I'm stuffed. Firstly, I'll miss r3 because it's on the same day as the Cricket WC final, and I'm lucky enough to be going. Boooo! Then going to Deniliquin and the AMC coincides with both vscrc rounds at Phillip Island! Boooooo! I could handle missing out of going to Sandown, but missing out on going to PI sucks! Lucky I'll still be able to go to Island Magic. These will be the first vscrc rounds I'll miss for 5 years! -
Right, Let's get this going! Calendar Feb 15 - TCCA Werribee Mar 1 - PAC Pakenham Mar 29 - NCCA Werribee Apr 19 - DSCC Deniliquin May 3 - PCCV Pakenham Jun 21 - FFCC/TCCA Altona Jul 18 - BCC Bendigo Aug 16 - HAC Colac Sep 6 - SEAC Mt Gambier Oct 25 - HSCCV Laverton Nov 15 - VMCi Pakenham Sep 25/26 - AMC Bendigo A mammoth 11 rounds! I wonder if instead of including all but your worst 2 rounds towards the points, they drop your worst 3 this time? More rounds mean the series is more likely to have meetings clash with personal commitments.

We had presentation night last Tuesday, at Zagames Caulfield. It was alright, but possibly limited with what you can do on a Tuesday night, particularly when comparing to Cricket presentation night's I've been to. A bit of a Aaron Wuilleminathon. He did all the presenting, and collected all the trophies! Here's the link to get the final standings, I can attach the file on my own :o http://www.motorkhanavic.com.au/points.php

I do have a copy of the 2015 calendar. So in that case, I'll start the thread later tonight.

I could start it. But I'm a Johnny-come-lately to this forum. carbonboy has been putting in the hard yards talking to himself for a couple of years about the VMC. I'll give him an opportunity to kick things off.

I didn't do so well in r10. Just got the season over and done with. Looking forward to presentation night on Tuesday. When is the 2015 thread starting?

The last round this weekend. Without anything to lose or gain, I will be most interested in the results of the juniors. Currently a kid in Class A leads another in Class F 43-35. But by dropping their two results atm, the scores are 35-32. So along with F1, two major titles will be decided on the 23rd!

Well, Thanks. I know it's been 2 months, but I did read it earlier, but had nothing to add. Thanks anyway. Since my last post, we've had r9 and both 2nd places cannot be beaten. Unfortunately, I can't get 1st place in both classes either, not even Novice! :o But I hope CAMS doesn't skimp and I get 2 trophies as nice as what carbonboy showed us got last year. But anyway, the reason why I'm posting is because I've just seen Shannons Legends Motorsport interview with former Corolla runner, Colin Bond. In it, it became clear why he was so good...He started out in motorkhanas! If ever I step up to something like Autocross or Super Sprints, I'd look for a red ae93/94 and add the white paint to make the Caltex colours, similar to below, as a tribute to him!

Round 8 of Motorkhana. 900km round trip (Melbourne - Mt Gambier), just to get flogged by competitors who hadn't beaten me all year! Apparently, the last round (10) may be cancelled. If that's the case, it's impossible to be beaten for 2nd in both my classes. If it's isn't, then it's almost impossible to get beat for 2nd.

After Mt Gambier. There's another meeting on bitumen. Either back at Bendigo, or somewhere else. Then finishing off at Werribee or Pakenham. I think Pakenham. As far my results go. On the surface, they're good. Running second in both Class C and Novice. I've benefitted out of being committed to the comp, and both classes not having huge depth. Accounting for anything unforeseeable, it should remain that way. I'm still a chance for Novice, but I'll need everything to go my way. Class C was over as a contest after about rd4. But anyway, it's been good all round. Getting stuck into it.

Why has it taken me this long to find this forum about Vic motorkhana? How come the thread's been given up on? I've done the whole season so far. There's three to go.
