  1. After help from a few good people on here I decided on fitting an R31 diff to handle the torque. Unbelievably the next day after realizing what was needed the exact thing I was looking for came up for sale albeit in another state.............where luckily a mate that is a helpful sort happily drove the 3 hour round trip to pick up for me :) Winning! This diff has already been converted to KE70 arm pick up points and only needs some brakes and prolly a freshen up but for $300 no complaining
  2. Sooooooo then I pulled out the LS1/ T56 and sold them to a mate asap. LS1 is a great engine but in a car this light is severely over kill and plus I already had a full drive line for a turbo V6 ready to go in. At the stage of mock up now and need to get it back a bit further (15cm between bunky plenum and firewall) and a tad lower too as there's a chance it doesn't need a bonnet scoop. Once a good mock position is achieved I'll set about making some mounts. Great to have stumbled across this car. The more I learn about them, the more they impress me!
  3. Hi all. Picked up this KE70 from a mate recently to get onto the track with. I was 3/4 of the way through prepping a VT commodore for circuit duties but the costs were starting to get hefty. I planned on converting all the suspension arms on that to rose joint and costs were just blowing out, even with DIY every thing. Only so many hours in the day too Over a few drinks at said mates work shop n spied this in the corner neglected as he had just bought a fully prepped KE70 LS1 powered drift car.
  4. I won't be shortening anything that's for sure. Wider rear track the better to a point. Flares ftw on the track!
  5. This is what's in the car atm. Will pull it out in January after holidays as no time now. Have ordered equal length 4 link from techno toy and clearly have my work cut out for me.....literally haha Had a good day today. The combo fits. Will have to mod the sump a tad to get it back far enough but nothing real major :)
  6. Yeah that's what it is. I haven't driven it but with the wheels off the ground they both turn the same way when spun by hand
  7. Awesome info there. Appreciated!
  8. Yeah, confirmed with the old owner it's an S series lsd. Will go an R31 bw78 diff and use a tru trac. Will run the car at low boost for a while until i start getting the handling under control so should help the bw78 live for a while
  9. Out with the old In with the new.......angle grinder at the ready
  10. Totally excellent points an train of thought there. Couldn't agree more. It's a turbo V6 hence the mention of moo haha. Firewall is pretty open already as I removed an LS1 conversion to fit the V6 in the hope of getting it back further over the front axle line. Balance will be aided by a water to air intercooler system and a water resevoir. While extra weight may be ludicrous to guys thinking of circuit racing my aim is to have fun and trim fat as needed. Water res can be used as ballast of sorts too and be located anywhere in the cabin or boot. Boot floor has been removed and am fabbing a much lower one so c of g will be better. Just need this diff sorted
  11. Good stuff! Pretty effing green when it comes to these cars lol
  12. The S366 with moo 3.8L will do easy 350rwkw but I don't think my car will get faster than 10s if I drag it. t56 and hard suspension = crapola 60ft but yeah, take your point about being similar based components with the falcon and commo diffs E7? IS this the nick name for a KE70 for you more familiar guys ? Ohhh I must be drunk. When you said Borgies are good for 9s I thought you were referring to my Borg warner based turbo lol!
  13. Yeah this is something that swayed me towards this car. Had a heavy as hell VT prior and just fire saled it off asap as soon as my KE70 popped up for sale! Forgive my ignorance but could you shed some light on T series plz? Billet axles are definitely not out of the question and trying to keep unsprung weight down as well so a Hi Lux diff will be a good option but I think last resort I have a back ground with commodores which is why I was thinking BW78 based diff as I've done a few of these at 300rwkw in the heavier VS with no issues from the gearset or axles. Everything is boosted of course What I really like of the ford diff is the watts link from factory and it's something I'll really be looking at as I do this project. Has to be better than a lateral bar
  14. So the issue with the stock diff would be axles are weak and gears will strip? Would this be caused by the diff carrier getting all out of alignment under heavy torque and loading up components on bad angles or just out right weakness in a perfect geometry situation (should that ever be able to exist!) A diff housing cradle could be an easy option or just meh, go the hilux or R31 diff?
  15. 400rwkw boosted 6 through a T56 on methanol is the drive train. It's not a drag car but will give it a run or 2 just because but is a dedicated track car with zero street duties. Really not into failing a diff at the top of 4th with 30psi on board so please be blunt lol
  16. I'm new to modding a KE70 so be gentle. Putting a much higher powered turbo engine in my car and have been told by all the diff will blow asap. Not too keen on swapping to an R31 diff if it's not totally needed and am prepared to address the KE diff if it's viable. The car will be used for circuit with semi slicks so that said, is there any after market to strengthen the diff in my car alredy?
  17. Don't be a hater but it has a turbo ecotec and T56 going in. Torque output will be a bit silly but just in it for fun cos I already have the combo here ready to go
  18. I actually scrapped a 240GL a couple years back n now you mention it the thing is about the right track. Had a lot of faith in that car except for k tronic injection lol What kind of centres can go in them to your knowledge mate?
  19. Need to upgrade to a strong diff for a KE70. Planned power is over 300rwkw and will be used for circuit racing only. No street stuff CIG diffs and spools are out as there's a lot of tight twisty stuff so a 2 way lsd in there. Recommendations and fails are all welcome so let me know plz
