yeah seems like volksies have really taken off in the past year or 2... but its really the early 60's through to the early 50's that really tickle my interest, had the 56 for a while just rusting away so i decided to do something with it...

  4. holy crap its been 2 years since ive been on rollaclub.

well a lil update.. in the past 2 years... i have pushed the ke10 into the container and havent touched it since... but on a better note i have since learnt how to weld and panelbeat properly.

the reason for the ke10 being shoved in the container is i ended up with a hilux for my first driving car... which i slammed, shaved and painted it post-2244-1269758214_thumb.jpg

then when i havent been working on that i have been building a 1956 vw beetle with fully adjustable suspension.

i have built all the adjustable suspension and am onto fixing the rust which there is ALOT of... i am replacing the hole bottom 8inches of the car :) but I'm really enjoying it

anyway this is an idea of what i want it to look like...

    post-2244-1269758556_thumb.jpg

anyway enough of the past few years...

my love for early rollas is still there and strong but my motivation isnt atm... once i have finished the beetle... (hopefully sometime this year) i plan on gettin the ke10 out of the container... cutting out all the dodgey repairs i did on it when i was 15 and fixing it all again to a better standard.

will be back when i get onto it :)

  5. Well me and a few mates were bit bored yesterday and decided to go 4x4ing all over brisbane in all our 4b's... anyway the day was great and at our last location we were at Mt Cotton in the middle of the bush track climbing a hill and i see the rusty metal object in the bushes and as an owner of a 67 ke10 i know the body shape and so on... anyway i see this rusting thing and noticed it was a ke10 so i hit the brakes and had a look. i got some pics on my phone but it looked like it has been burnt down... still had the diff in it.... front end was buggered... fuel tank and half a rear bumper was still ok but nothin worth taking... hehe also that day i saw a few other wrecks obviously been stolen and dumped and burnt.... but spoted a ke70 that had some old rims on it... but burnt to buggery... anyway here are some of the pics...

i also notice this would have been a ke11 as it had the vents in the rear pillar but were slowly rusting away

this is a picture of what i first saw and notice it was a old rolla  might i say it the 3 ke10 i have seen in person other then my own

  7. ok well i have been so completely slack.... i have done all this work.... to get it in epoxy primer and now it just sits in my shed.... i have done some bogging but still have soooo much more to go befor i am even close.... i swear i wipe on bog then i sand it.... then i have sanded the bog to low so i gotta put on more.... wait for that to dry.... then sand that,.... still to low.... put more on wait for it to dry.... so its really disheartening and i really need motivation.. and its so much easier just to go work on my hilux and tidy that up a bit each day..... what do u all do to get your cars done so fast..... and how do u keep motivated? i really want to be at painting stage but never find the time nor motivation to complete it..... so I'm hoping that me writing this willl make me pull my finger out and actually get something done....

    Myles.

  8. Ok, well i havent updated in a while but here is the run down.

Well i have been chassing a bonnet since the day i got the car, me and my brother sourced out a few bonnets, then found a guy in sydney with a rust free, fairly straight bonnet. He also had 2 beautiful guards and both front and rear, rechromed reshaped bumpers. As my brother wanted a holiday he drove down there for me and got them. (a quick pic of them)

Once i got all the parts i started paint strippering the whole car.... then got the orbital sander to the bare metal to scuff it up abit ready to be painted.

Got it prepared for the epoxy primer (I'm the one on the right)

Then got my old man to spray the car in epoxy primer, cause he has had some time on the gun spraying boats.

next is to bog and fare it ready for the actuall undercoart and then get that ready for the top coat!

    Cheers Myles!

  9. hey mate I'm soon to be paint stripping my car aswell, the fella at my local paint place, told me to tape about an inch from the edge, holes or diffucult places where the stripper could stay or not get removed properly, you understand?. then stripper all around where u have taped up. then pull off all the tape and sand what the tape has been covering down to bare metal as this will stop the the paint stripper from stayin in a difficult place to get at and/or eating into your next coat of paint!

hope this helps, this is just what the guy told me!

    Cheers Myles
